Your cart is empty.The Hokema Kalimba B7 is the 'sister' of the B9 and is likewise a small and handy kalimba with a solid resonance body of American Cherrywood with stainless steel parts, refined development and clean tuning. The measurements of both instruments are the same but the B7 is not only tuned differently, but its tines are also wider, which makes the tones deeper. It goes down to deep E, the lowest kalimba note we sell! A pleasure to play. The magic of playing this kalimba and her sisters is resulted from the fact that the vibrations of the tines is significantly felt in the hands of the player and thus the sounds are transmitted into his/her body and bestow a magic peaceful feeling. However due to the deeper tones of the seven pentatonically-tuned tines, the vibrations of the B7 are stronger. For this reason, the B7 is especially favored by therapists, who place the kalimba to the patient's body whilst playing (especially to hard areas like joints etc.). The tuning of the Kalimba B7 is pentatonic C. The sounds produced are therefore always in harmony and the playing is easy and intuitive, so beginners also enjoy immediate success with this instrument. The sound of the instrument can be significantly amplified by placing it on or sticking it onto a tabletop, the skin of a drum or any sounding board. The description says "low tones" leading one to believe that this instrument is maybe a tenor or alto or at least something lower than a standard kalimba. It's not -- the 8-tines are up in the range of a treble kalimba, and you don't even get a complete scale.The pictures show the kalimba attached to various resonators (none of which you get), so it's difficult to see just how /small/ this instrument is. It easily fits in the palm of one hand.The instrument is unresonated -- the tines are just mounted on a solid board, so the sound is VERY quiet. If there are two people in the room you practically have to ask one of them to hold their breath, so you can hear the kalimba.It doesn't come with a case, either.What there is of it is nicely made and polished. But it's basically a kid's toy, not a musical instrument. And you can get a kids' kalimba with a full scale on it for half the price this is selling for. I'd pass it by and shop around. Very disappointing.

Sounds great and needed very little tension adjustment to bring it into perfect tune. After my GF played around with it off and on all day while I was at worked I checked it over after I got home and it held its tune.

People who are familiar with other kalimbas are amazed at the sound that the B7 produces. The tone is rich and the tuning is spot on. I play it alone and also with other C-pentatonic instruments.

Love the sound...soulful...blues sound. Note: the US Postal does not register (tracking info.), for some reason, when the package has arrived....from another country..until almost two weeks later? I noticed was no longer listed on the amazon site under orders, so I checked today the P.O....and it was there.Tracking still says "on the way". l.o.l. The Hokema Kalimba B7, very good price and excellent sound. Would make a great gift for others (and self).

Sehr gute Verarbeitung, tolle Klänge, auch prima als "Spieluhr" zum Einschlafen. Man muss keine Noten beherrschen um angenehme Töne zu spielen. :)
