I use this coolant filter on my 2005 Ford excursion aftermarket coolant filter system. I works as advertised and keeps my coolant system clean.

I installed a coolant filter inline on a 99 grand marquis, which had a severely neglected cooling system. I flushed the system a total of 3 times, all new hoses, new reservoir, new water pump. Filled with G-05 coolant and the filter was plugged up in 25 miles. I did notice since I installed this on the outlet side of the heater core the restrictor on the outlet of the filter was causing the coolant to dwell in the heater core thus reducing my heat temps. I simply enlarged the hole with a drill bit and got my heat temps back to normal. I was able to reuse the first filter so far by dumping the old coolant out of the filter, seeing all of the rust and debris come out, then rinsed the filter out and a bunch more fine particles came out. Normally I'd never recommend that but it's going to clog again anyways.

Most coolant filters have SCA additives in them. Too high of an SCA content will precipitate all over your engine and contribute to plugging your oil cooler (Exactly what you are trying to stop). To be clear these filters are made for water - the media doesn't break down - unlike people selling oil filters that can turn to mush making things worse.
