I don't know that this would be ideal for serious microbiology work, but I'm a (former) microbiologist who just wanted to do a couple of fun little projects, and this worked fine for what I needed.So for that, or for young students in high school doing projects, I think this is a great and affordable option.But I've also worked with better inoculating loops when I was doing serious work. Can't really judge them for serious work from what I did, but I think they're solid for smaller or less important projects.

Got this for my son's class project in biology. I didn't hear any complaints and he got an A on his project so I guess it did the job.
