Product Description

bamboo golden matcha tea whisk

Some things are better done the traditional way

I remember my first cup. The full-bodied taste that lingered long after that first warm sip. Earthy. Wholesome. Smooth, with subtle hints of sweet— I was instantly hooked. It wasn’t long after that I purchased my first matcha powder, and began to experiment trying to recreate that delicious electric green cup I so much enjoyed.

It was then I realized just how much the flavor spectrum can vary from one grade of matcha to the next. But it’s not just the grade of matcha that matters— It’s how you prepare it. The full-bodied green taste of matcha is caused by what are called “polyphenols” in the tea leaf. If you add too much matcha powder these polyphenols are overpowering, and you create a bitter tea. If you add too little matcha powder, your cup may taste empty, and each sip will leave you yearning for more flavor.

Creating the perfect cup

Creating the perfect cup starts with creating the perfect tools. The traditional bamboo tea whisk (chasen) and chashaku have been the tool of choice for creating the perfect frothy matcha for over 1000 years —and I have found this truly is the best way to prepare a cup.

Our process is simple, to create the perfect whisk, you need to start with the best material. Our team hand inspects each bamboo rod for blemishes and integrity. Any piece of bamboo that doesn’t meet our standards is rejected. Only after selecting the best bamboo material does our team begin the production process by hollowing out the bamboo rods, and cutting them down to the perfect length for the tea whisks.

The next step is the most important part in the process. Our specialists hand curl each tine to create the perfect matcha brush. The soft brushing motion of the tines is what gives matcha the perfect consistency, and without this integral step in our process, the tea will not come out the same.

How to Make Matcha Tea - Part 1

Add your favorite matcha powder into a small bowl or cup

Use 2 small scoops with the chashaku for every 2-3 ounces of water, You may also use the large scoop for a more powerful and flavorful tea.

Care Instructions

Due to the natural properties of a bamboo matcha whisk, it’s important to take proper care of your matcha tool to extend the life of the product. We recommend gently hand washing after each use. The most important step is to make sure the whisk is dry after use. If you allow the tool to stay wet for an extended period of time, the product will wear much faster. It’s natural for the tines of your whisk to uncurl over time, eventually you will need to replace your whisk.

Yes this whisk works fine, but is of poor quality and after a month of use the bamboo is breaking off. Would not recommend.

Right off the bat, it has a smell, I washed it before used, but still has a bamboo/woody taste to my matcha. There's also small fragments of the bamboo sticking out like flyaways hair. I had a whisk from a tea store before and there's none of these issues. Granted, this is a cheap set of products, so I get what i paid for. It will do the basic of the job, but make sure you thoroughly soak the scent out of the whisk with hot soapy water.

The Whisk is good. Mixes the Matcha well into the liquid. The utensils are a nice dark color, I like it very much.

I’ve been looking for whisks that I’ve needed for my coffeeshop, and i finally found the one that’s perfect! It’s small enough to stir inside paper cups and ceramic cups. The overall feel and look is stylish and well made. My baristas love it and we’ve consistently made smooth, tasty matcha drinks with ease. Will definitely purchase again and i highly recommend!

I really love that this set came in a dark bamboo, it's just beautiful, elegant and looks more expensive than it really is. A beautiful set with a nice tray to keep everything together. My son is very happy!

High quality and well made. Very distinctive and adds a bit of "panache" to a tea lovers accessories. The wisk very much helps dissipates the clumps that are inevitable with matcha tea.

I didn't like the quality of the whisk..it seemed to break down quite a bit with the first use. the other tools are cool but I found them really unnecessary
