I love the radios, works well, but the life of the battery is not too good after transmitting for a bit , I well have to get biger batterys, for what i do.

The 5rm was to be able to connect to 5r and so far I've not been able to get them to do that. Two of the batteries will not fully charge and I've followed the steps for that. So with that said I'm not very satisfied with the equipment.

Delivered timely as advertised in original packaging. Purchased as a value alternative and entry into HAM radio. Sturdy, well made, not difficult to program as others have noted. UHF, VHF, NOAA Weather and air frequencies. Accessory bundle of extra batteries, earpieces, antennas, handheld Mic. Batteries holding charge with extended use. Highly recommend this radio bundle, brand and seller.

The radio seem to be okay they have a good range just figuring them out we're getting about 10 miles out of them line of sight

The price was amazing, not to miss at all. I wanted a 10W transmitter and nothing less. I've read some reviews about the claim to be mostly false... But I decided to try. This is the newer Baofeng with nice display and good features. The set looks professional (more than one of the other models) the kit came with nice set of antennas. I might get a more powerful antenna for some outdoor (in field) applications.I've read too many comments about Chirp being P_in_the_A ... I was scared of it. I tried to use it and it didn't work at all. I started selecting different models from the list then I found a post online about making sure that the connector (programming) is well plugged into the phone. Indeed, it wasn't plugged in well. Once fixed this issue, it worked without problem.I got a list of the repeaters in my area and I was able to listen transmission from a repeater 20 miles away from me. I've started working on my license but not done yet so currently I am just listening.There are some channels that are license free but the 5RM is too powerful for that type of transmissions (should be less than 2W). The kit has a small antenna. I am not sure if the wattage / range will drop to the legal limits.
