I purchased this helmet for my son who has frequent seizures. It is nearly identical to a $70 helmet that I had previously purchased from a special needs supply website two years ago. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

I use this for my daughter when she has cluster seizures. We ordered a size M and it has room to grow as her head grows. Her head circumference is 21.5in. The stitching and the fabric on the hat is of good quality and I anticipate this will last us for some time. I would like to have more padding, but this works. It is hard to find a soft protective helmet for children that is under $50.

Purchased two of these for my autistic son who can get a bit overzealous at times. Great adjustable fit, comfortable and just enough protection when those meltdowns start. If you are a parent of a disabled child, I know you read me. Much more economical than expensive, specialty helmets. Recommended!

I bought this helmet, for my special needs son. One of his challenges is intractable epilepsy. From day one, he wore this helmet! I tried a few other protective helmets in the past. My son always would cry, pull the helmet off and act out. This helmet must be comfortable, and not bother him sensory wise. Because he doesn't mind it one bit! It is true to the size chart and the helmet does the job, and protects. I would recommend this product others. Thank you.

I have a 3 and a half year old son who is autistic. We needed something that wouldn't be big and bulky and this helmet works great. Only down side is the string in the back. It doesn't stay tied together. That's why I gave 4 stars. The hat is a little big for him but we were worried the xsmall would be too small. Overall works great and my son doesn't mind wearing it.

I really like this helmet, it secures my son's head really good, he is almost eight years old but his head fits it great, he can grow into it even when he becomes an adult. It protects my son's head well and I am not worry about his head banging too much because of it. My son is comfortable with it and leaves it on longer. Glad I got it.

We don't actually use this for sports. It was purchased for a disabled child and while he fights wearing hats and other helmets, he willingly puts this on as part of the morning routine. It isn't as well padded as a stereotypical "autistic" helmet, but much more cool to the other HS aged kids. It does a great job of protecting against his "in control" tantrums and acts as a under-liner to the stereotypical helmet on the more and more rare occasions that he gets out of control. If Barnett was to up their game, I think this has the ability to be a much more acceptable special needs helmet, particularly when you can dress it up to look like a super hero costume.Added 24 March 2013:My son's head circumference is 20.5". I bought a size small and have it laced in the back all the way closed. This fits well on him and allows for growth. From USABarnettSports website (where I got sizing info. originally):Large 23.5"Medium 22.5"Small 21.5"X-Small 20.5"I interpreted the sizing to suggest that it was the largest head that would fit, and so I went up to the small (21.5") instead of the x-small (20.5").
