These 100% Alder pellets really do smoke like stick alder.Because of their price, I don't waste them to run in my Traeger itself, instead loading smoker tubes to set on the Traeger's grill deck. With good tube management, one can hold the internal temp at about 125f and let salmon & steelhead bask in the smoke for 6 to 9 hours (depending on taste preference). I only fire up the grill itself (to 180f) to finish the last hour or so of cooking (since there is so little smoke from the grill itself during this, I don't really worry about what pellets are in it).Since these are the only 100% alder pellets I've found for sale, I can't recommend them enough for Pacific Northwest / Alaska style smoked salmon & steelhead.
