Our smoker gets a workout and we use it more than our grill so I’m surprised we didn’t think to get this sooner. It’s the best upgrade ever! Always need a place to put my tray for ribs, and thus solves that problem instantly. It’s sturdy and can hold a platter with so far 3 racks of ribs comfortably. I don’t want to push my luck, but it could probably hold more. It was pretty easy to install (YouTube has a good video to boost confidence), and all the parts were there and actually fit. The shelf folds down easily out of the way when you don’t need it and does not interfere with the fit of the storage cover. Have had no trouble with cleaning it, grease comes off easily enough. Worthy of the price to me and wish I’d had it sooner.

What I like is the front shelf will provide more work space when cooking. When the shelf is up it is very sturdy and has good support. Also I like the shelf drops down when not in use and allows the grill cover to go over the grill as it should.What I didn't like was the instructions were torn and had to be taped together and after doing that they weren't very clear. I would suggest doing what I did go to YouTube and search for "how to install the Camp Chef front shelf" there is a very good video on how to install the shelf. That is why I only gave 4 stars.

This shelf is a complete, valued addition to my smoker. It has that heat-resistant powder finish and the edges are well-machined with no sharp parts. The installation is straightforward. I purchased this hoping it would fit my Z-Grills smoker as the shelf itself is the perfect size. Unfortunately (and as I expected) it does not work out of the box and will require a retrofit, but I'm still excited to get it done as it is a high-quality item and will look great when finished.100% recommend if you have the Camp Chef or if you are handy for other similar size grills.Edit: Updated to include some pix of the finished product, very happy with the outcome even though this was NOT designed for my smoker, specifically.

What a quick and easy upgrade, my only regret is why I waited so long to get it! For CampChef owners out there l, this should be your number 1 upgrade as soon as you get your smoker! It’s a breeze to install, a few screws and most campchefs already have the screws holes built in on the smoker. It’s sturdy and so convenient with a foldable feature, the space you will gain from installing this is so valuable! I can put my brisket foil tray while I’m getting the smoker ready or use it as a prep table, the uses are endless! Overall, highly recommend, best value for the money!

This front folding shelf was so easy to install that my husband had it out and attached to our grill before I even realized that it had been delivered.it is sturdy enough that we put a full plate of hot dogs and hamburgers on it and it did not protest at all. The stability of it is just that good.

Installation was easy and quality of the shelf is good. However it is not level and can’t be trusted to set food on. The sleeved screws need to be larger to take up the space in the slots.

This adds a much needed front shelf to my camp chef. Fit was good and its built sturdy with no sharp edges. Instructions were pretty plain...and mine had the existing screw holes...but if you have to drill your own it says to use a template...which wasn't present. There are also no nuts like shown in the diagram for a drilled install. Mine had the screws though so it went on with no issues. My only gripe is that it is not level, it slightly tilts forward so you can't set spices or anything that might roll on it.

Shelf and hardware are made of thick metal- no flexing. The finish is somewhat rough but consistent - may be hard to wipe clean. I plan on repainting it since my side shelves need a refinish. Everything fit together well, except for one screw - one of the shelf support screws was wrong - a shoulder type (the screws were pre-installed loosely) I swapped it out for one of the included bracket screws since I used the original ones from the grill.If your grill is a few years old like mine, you may have some trouble getting the screws out to install this.Some PB blaster, impact driver, and vice-grips to hold the threaded inserts helped to get these free.I was concerned about the grill depth since I store the grill inside an enclosed patio, but the shelf doesn't protrude any further than the lid handle. I just have to be extra careful I don't swipe the screen door when moving it. The extra play in the slotted holes on the brackets prevent the shelf from being absolutely level, but its close enough and the shelf is sturdy when in raised position.Overall, a great addition to the grill for a reasonable price.
