History of Turkish Coffee

Approximately 450 years ago, Ozdemir Pasha, the governor of Yemen, who had been fascinated with the coffee beans of Yemen, brought them to the Ottoman Palace. By courtesy of a brand-new coffee making method invented by the Turks, coffee made from those coffee beans has been labeled ‘’Turkish Coffee’’. Raw coffee beans were roasted in pans, then they were crushed with coffee mortars, brewed in copper coffee pots and diligently served to the most prestigious friends and drunk. Both in palace cuisine and at homes, Turkish coffee has become a familiar flavor and with the speed of the social life, the coffee culture was spread widely.

I had my doubts ordering it, because I had read some reviews saying that the workmanship wasn't very good. However, after receiving the pot and examining it I must say that the workmanship is great! It is definitely hand made judging by little imperfections which are kind of charming in a way. The pot looks great and is sturdy and heavy, made out of thick copper, nicely tinned inside and well balanced. Can't really speak about its longevity yet, but expect it to last many years.

Just received this item today and when I opened I was quite disappointed by the quality. I haven’t tried product yet, but it looks already used. That’s not what you expect ordering a new item.I feel like someone used it and returned it and the seller sent it to me. It’s chipped all over. Also the design on the handle is not straight, if you turn it to make it straight it’s very unstable. I can’t recommend this to anyone. There are a lot of options on Amazon, but this is not it. Beware!

Works like it should and is very unique compared to a lot of ibriks I looked at while shopping. The color is cool. But what I’m really impressed with is the craftsmanship! Clearly not made by a machine, and I’m sure that while similar no two of these will be perfectly identical! It is obviously handmade with apparently simple tools…you can almost hear the craftsman as he makes your ibrik in his shop😎

This is the right cezve to make real coffee. Thick walled, heavy, great craftsmanship. Just need some good Turkish or Armenian coffee and a little patience and you’ll have the best (real) coffee. No comparison to coffee flavored drinks from cup/pod machines.
