One of my good friends is a pool cleaner, for a neighbor that has an inground pool. We all coordinated, in order to "try it out". This little robot is very cool. It does its job, and cleans areas that none of us realized needed to be cleaned. Then, after a few times, it's almost like "set it, and forget it". Almost, because the debris does need to be emptied. However, it does have functions that let you know.

Buying a pool cleaner requires a bit of thought. My above ground 24' round needs tank treads to get over its uneven bottom. This cleaner has that and so much more. Honestly, its a bit of overkill, but its worth all the extra benefits that come with it. The latest generation of rechargeable pool cleaners is a game changer and this Beatbot is a good replacement for my tired Dolphin E10 with its disintegrating electrical cord. The tractor wheels can handle the hills and valleys of my older above ground pool bottom and after a charge, can run up to three hours -- that's about twice as long as its predecessor. The cordless charging dock allows for plug-free charging. Its bright too with a built-in fancy mapping system that can climb walls. Its powerful suction picks up everything on the bottom and a roomy catch basket that can handle larger debris and the finer stuff too. This smart machine actually maps your pool, figures out the best cleaning path, and even knows where the steps are. Don't ask me how, but it gets smarter after every use. It has an app if you want, but you don't need it to use the vac. With it, you can look at the history, how much time it took on the floors, the walls, etc. One caveat though -- it's really heavy! But that's to be expected with long-life batteries and scrubbers as large as these. The quality of the design build and components is apparent. This Beatbot will float along the water line for awhile which lets you catch it and pull it out. It comes with a hook too which you will need.I've tried the so-called smart bots and was disappointed. This one actually lives up to its name. There's cheaper ones out there, but you get what you pay for. For dependability this sweeper has plenty going for it and it's built by Beatbot, the brightest brand I know of.

I've owned close to a dozen pool bots at this point and this is the smartest and most efficient cleaner I've used. Pool bots are very different in every pool and this one climbs the walls better and efficiently than I've seen. It will go up every section well, reach the top and then stop and go back down, move over a foot and start again. While the wall scrubbing has been great, I have noticed that it will often miss areas of my pools floor. Out of the gate, the bot will start mapping the perimeter of the pool's floor and then clean all that. In most cases this bot fails to properly map my pool and switches into "DeepSense Mode" where it seems to clean less smart but more random. The manual states that this may happen in pools that have walls that are too curved and this seems to include mine. Only one time out of dozens has it created a map of my pool and cleaned the floor row by row. Also sometimes the bot seems to get confused and only cleans the deep end or the shallow end of my kidney shaped pool before switching to wall mode. This requires me to sometimes run the bot again in floor only mode to force it to focus on cleaning all the pool floor and prevent it from switching to the walls again. The smart app and Wifi connection is amazingly good but aside from status and battery details it's not that useful. Once the BeatBot goes into the water than the smart app goes dumb (ie Wifi can't work underwater). The cleaning basket is great... it's simple and easy to empty and rinse. It cleans perfectly and as long as it reaches a spot in my pool, it does a great job. The charging cradle is simple and great. You pull the bot from the pool, clean the basket and put it on the charger and it's ready to go again in a few hours. While the BeatBot does excel on the features and "smarts", my much cheaper Wybot C1 bot often cleans just as well if not better than the BeatBot. You are certainly paying a premium for the BeatBot to get all it's features but in some cases maybe that's not worth the entry price if all you want is a bot that can clean. My other gripe with my BeatBot is that the rubber seal around the top of my filter basket keeps coming loose and falling out of the groove. I've had to re-seat it almost every time I clean the filter basket or take great care when I clean out the filter to not blow out the gasket with my hose.Pro:- Good cleaner- Easy to clean filter basket- Smart Wifi- Great charging dock- Firmware updates keep coming to improve itCons:- Only camps at surface for a short bit before sinking when finished- Smart mapping doesn't work in my pool (99% of the time)- No info on user replaceable battery- Cheaper bots on the market clean just as well
