About this item

  • 【 Variable ND Filter】Beschoi ND2–ND400 Variable Filter reduces the amount of light reaching the camera sensor, allowing you to shoot in different conditions with slower shutter speeds and wider apertures. It is perfect for capturing rivers, waterfalls, light trails, and other moving objects with dynamic motion blur.
  • 【Ultra-Slim Structure】The 0.37" (9.5mm) thick ultra-thin lens with precise threading is easy to mount. Add almost no weight on the lens. The wide outer frame prevents vignetting in your shots and perfectly suits wide-angle and telephoto lenses.
  • 【Premium Material】Japanese NITTO polarizing film ensures optimal neutrality and accurate color contrast and reproduction. With 4-element superior optical glass and 42-layer multi-resistant coatings, this ND filter makes you take images and videos with great confidence.
  • 【Multiple-Layered Coatings】42 nano-coatings with 0.1% minimum light reflectance can block ultraviolet rays from 300nm to 380nm and reduce flare and ghosting. The multi-resistant coatings protect the filter against moisture, oil, dust, and scratches.
  • 【Note】1. An X-patterned glare or ghosting may appear when light is reduced to ND256. 2. Actual ND effects may differ at the Min and Max marks as well as in different environments. 3. For long exposure, please purchase ND1000 or ND2000 filters. 4. For this 55mm ND filter, the lens cap/hood should be 58mm.

I've had this ND filter for about a year. This was it's first major test. I'd planned a trip to the Rockies. I knew that we would want to get an early start, to try to stay ahead of the other tourists. So, most of my shots would be taken from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. This would mean shooting in harsh sunlight. The Beschoi ND Filter performed well. I attached it to an Olympus M. Zuiko Digital 40-150mm zoom lens, shooting in RAW format. Having 9 stops gave me more exposure options when setting up my shots.I was even able to get some silky water shots, while shooting hand held. The images were easy to work with in post. Some of the images had a color cast, but that was quickly corrected in the edit. All in all, I'm more than satisfied with this filter. I recommend it.

If all you want is to use it as a light duty filter, it will work fine. When you use it at full strength, there are all kinds of visual anomalies that will ruin your images.

I can't tell you if they have one of these filters that fits your camera you may want to get one of these filters as you just adjust it and wham bam thank you filter taking the the pic again. I hope this helps.

I am an absolute novice when it comes to filters. When I put this on, everything was black! Then I took it off and put it back on. Everything was normal. I had no idea what I had gotten until I tried to take it off again, and the filter kept turning. This gives you a range of filtering that will be useful in some atmospheric photography to use more practical effects instead of adjusting in post. Spending time learning my cameras and how to finesse my images will go a long way toward my appreciation of this filter.

If you are obsessed with maximum image quality this variable ND filter is probably not going to find a place in your camera bag. On the other hand, if you only need a neutral density filter on occasion and don't mind dealing with the very slight color shift towards greenish/yellow, then this filter is a great value. It doesn't have any sort of click or stop indicator when dialing in the amount of neutral density you need, so you are going to need to pay attention to your meter readings as you rotate it. Personally, I like this better as it allows very fine-grained tuning within the optical limits of the filter. It does have a couple of drawbacks other than the previously mentioned slight color shift. One is the fact that the front of the filter holder is not threaded and so it makes it impossible to keep a lens cap in place. Unless you can find one of the older styles that slip over the rim of the filter. Second, when shooting directly into a bright light source there is a starburst filter effect. It is especially pronounced with hot lights in a studio or if the sun is in your image outdoors. On the other hand, if you account for the effect you can use it to add a bit of flair to your specular highlights in some images. For instance it is a nice, old school effect with outdoor portraits with the sun behind your subject. The filter is a terrific value for the money, but if you want precision you are going to either spend a lot more money buying a much higher quality variable ND filter, or a set of ND filters. Otherwise, it is a great filter and worth having around when you need it.

This is my 3rd filter from Beschoi, the other two are UV and CPL filters. I got this one to use on my Nikon 50mm lens. The filter came in a plastic box with a cleaning cloth however unlike other filter boxes there was no padding inside the small box. I don't like how the way the box opens but not a big deal. The markings on the rotating filter ring are clear. I like the wide outer frame, easy to grip. The rotating ring is smooth, it does not stop at min or max. I can stack this over a UV filter as well. The lens cap fits over the filter. When the filter is mounted on the lens, the stop markings appear on the left, wish they were visible from the top view.As you can see from the images I uploaded, the light gathered by the lens is reduced as the filter ring is rotating from min to max. I have uploaded only 4 images, shot at min, max and two stops before max. Shot these images in manual mode at fixed aperture, shutter speed and ISO just to show the light reduction.I did not notice the cross spot at the junction or during the transition between the min and max values. ND filters from any brand for that matter are not without imperfections and so adding an extra layer of glass may compromise the image quality a bit. However, I did not notice any obvious degrade in image quality while using this filter. It is very cold where I live and we have snow all around, so I will have to wait for few weeks before I can use it for long exposure to get the waterfalls motion blur.Overall, a good quality adjustable ND filter at a budget price and I recommend it.

Better at accurate color than K&F for the price- you’ll get your crosses 3 dots before max so get another one along side this to have better coverage 1/60 F.5 17mm on a 17-70 Tamron. The crosses don’t show when zoomed in

I thought this was too good to be true. I could get a 9 stopper for $25. You get what you pay for. The darkening is very uneven for my wide-angle lens at 77mm. Not even usable on the dark end. See the accompanying picture for the darkest setting. It is going back.
