I ride my bike with my Weim pup and this leash is super flexible, durable and it stabilizes my bike even if my pup wants to chase after a squirrel. It’s very easy to install and no tools required. This is the BEST PURCHASE I’ve made and it’s well worth the money. I feel in full control when cycling and I never have to worry my pup yanks me in different direction.

I use this on a disc braked eMTB. Works really well with my German Shorthaired Pointer dog. Only issue I had is ensuring the mount doesn’t block the speed sensor on the frame which uses a magnet on the disc.

The leash sent to me was the shorter version of the BTL which is not for a bicycle, and was also Red and not Orange as described. If I were to reorder it would be directly from the supplier, to avoid misunderstanding and disappointment irrespective of the Amazon seller refunding the difference in cost for the shorter version which is slightly cheaper.

Great product, easy to install.Works with my 170 pound Irish Wolfhound Husky, took him very little time to get use to the new set up.Love the control I have now with my dog riding with the bike now. I would highly recommend this product to my friends and family. Worth every penny.

I can finally take my dog with me to the wooded trails in my neighbourhood. She hasn't been able to tip the scooter, and mostly she heels very nicely. Sometimes she will see a chipmunk and try to run for it, but it holds her in place. I redirect her attention with a treat and we pick up speed to move past the distraction.Thank you to the inventor, it has improved my quality of life so much. When I got the scooter I could finally take myself to the woods but I wanted to have my dog by my side.Update: 5 years later and the leash is still going strong. I replaced the bolts once. They were bent as my dog does lounge at skunks and squirrels from time to time. Bolts are affordable and easy to swap out. The leash itself is as strong as the day we got it.

****UPDATE December 5, 2016**** 2 yrs later and still working like a charm. The Bike Tow Leash is still in excellent condition and functions exactly as it did the first day we I used it. My husband and I take Jett out on it several times a week and he still loves it. Using it as often as we do, we expected there might be a bit of wear on it but it's holding up wonderfully. A lot of people ask us about the Bike Tow Leash because it's plain to see how happy Jett is jogging along side the bike and how much we enjoy having him along with us on our rides. 2 years later and I can say that this bike hook-up is by far the best one we've ever used and we have absolutely no complaints! We have a 1yr old Australian Cattle Dog named Jett and we were having a difficult time finding exercise that challenged him. A lot of the things we tried just didn't do much to help him expel all the energy he tends to have. My husband tried to use a leash to take Jett out while biking through the neighborhood but Jett saw another dog and pulled my husband over and he ended up at the ER with a severely sprained ankle. We had had a bike hook-up years ago but it was an awful failure so we didn't think there was any hope for the whole biking with Jett idea. Our dog trainer suggested Bike Tow Leash and after reading the brochure and watching some videos, we decided to try it. I don't use my mountain bike very often. As a matter of fact, I don't find biking very interesting but since my hubby was laid up with his sprained ankle, I decided to hook it up to my Specialized Rockhopper. It wasn't that hard to hook up but I did have to make a bit of adjustment since my bike was a little different than the one pictured in the instructions (I found some ideas in some videos on Youtube so it wasn't an issue). Jett took to it immediately and was running beside my bike right away. He tried to run over to another dog and I thought for sure his abrupt change in movement would affect my bike but it did nothing to interrupt the movement of my bike. Both times he tried to run toward another dog, the Bike Tow Leash kept both Jett and I safe (I wasn't pulled over and the one time he ran toward my front tire, it prevented him from touching it). We've used it several times now and he's a pro at running along side the bike and the look of joy on his face is just wonderful. I have to admit that since being able to take Jett with me, I'm enjoying riding my bike much more than I had ever before. He's so happy that I actually find myself laughing at the look of joy on his face as we ride through the neighborhood! This is the best thing ever for us and for Jett. My only regret is that we didn't buy it sooner! My poor hubby wouldn't be going to physical therapy and we could have been biking with Jett all spring/summer/fall!

We are the proud new owners of an adult (approx. 6 - 7 year old) labradoodle that we adopted a couple weeks ago from an animal shelter. As first time dog owners, we've been reading materials about how to make this transition successful, and stumbled across Cesar Milan. We've been following his formula to successful dog ownership, exercise - rules / limitations - and affection. Our dog is high energy, and during our first week even though he was walking 4 miles a day and running two miles on top of that, he wasn't really challenged enough. I tried taking him for a bike ride just holding on to the leash, which was very exhilarating but highly dangerous for both of us. That night I started digging into reviews of bike leashes, and settled on this one. There are plenty of other reviews about the specs, so I'll focus on our experience. I have a Specialized 29er with disc breaks, and while it was a little challenging to figure out where to attach it to the frame, it wasn't impossible. It does not fit over both the chain stay and the seat stay, but I was able to attach it to the chain stay and it is very secure. It does not interfere with the disc breaks. When not in use, it slips up nicely and clips under my seat.It was very easy to set it up and apply it right out of the package. I attached it right to our dog's 1" collar, and we were ready to go. I was initially a little concerned about it pulling on his neck, but as I've been observing him as he runs, it isn't pulling on his neck at all. It's merely a guide as he runs along. If this becomes a concern, I will purchase a harness as others have suggested. I had initially been having him heel on the right side, so it took a slight adjustment for him to be on the left. He did have a tendency to chew on it when we were initially getting set up, so we worked on that immediately to prevent him from damaging the leash. He weighs about 50lbs. Ever since we adopted him we've been teaching him to be focused when we're on walks, and biking hasn't been any different. Any distractions that have come up have been very easy to correct. When I was stopped and another dog came along, he was able to pull the bike around to go sniff the other dog, so that might be a concern with a dog that has a tendency to randomly lunge.I did not make a separate trip into our vet for permission to use it, as I had just had him into the vet last week and was give a clean bill of health. We have been starting out gradually, only allowing him to go a couple miles in the beginning. I hold him back in the beginning for a warm up, then let him run for a while, following it up with a walk on the leash for a cool down. So far, our longest ride has been about 4 miles. I have been keeping a close eye on his pads for wear and hot spots. He still seems to have plenty of energy, but getting better exercise than we could provide by only walking and running at our pace seems to have helped tremendously with his excess energy. Getting exercise at his level has allowed him to be much calmer around the house, and has cured a great deal of his restlessness.Being a newbie dog owner still, I have weeks of experience instead of years, but a key seems to be that you keep working with your dog in all kinds of different situations. Starting in a less trafficked area with few distractions seems like a wise choice to me, and then gradually work in more obstacles and distractions. Having a consistent working relationship with your dog seems key too.All that being said, it's going to be a whole lot nicer to get out in the rainy, 50 degree weather today and go for a 25 minute bike ride instead of a 45 minute walk, knowing that my dog is still getting the exercise he needs. If we have issues with the structure and longevity of the device in the future or further safety concerns, I will update.
