Delicate as in the design. Being ceramic, they can be dishwashed without fear of breaking. In fact, this is a product that anybody wanting style for a dining case, dinner setting or what ever makes you feel good about impressing somebody, this set will do just that! High contrast, with shiny bone china look coupled with a baked on blue design that you will love to bring out for special occasions. Giftably boxed to boot. Highly recommended!!!

These Blue Floral Haven Ceramic, 11-inch Dinner Plates from the Bico Store on Amazon, really called out to me for some reason when I saw the listing. Delivery time was much longer than usual, but suddenly they were on their way, and I really looked forward to getting them.Unfortunately, one out of the four plates is broken. What a disappointment. Who is to blame? They were shipped by Big Brown, but there is no damage to the outside of container. Inside there is a two piece container of Styrofoam which is not damaged either. Inside the Styrofoam were the four plates separated by thin cardboard, the kind where one side is rippled, and the other is smooth. (See photo.) It appears to me that this poor choice of packing materials is to blame. Not Big Brown. It crushes too easily, and allows movement of the product. Movement equals damage.The plates themselves are quite nice. Very solid feeling, but clearly not unbreakable, but it's unreasonable to expect that. I hate to use the well overused word that seems to appear in every Chinese product listing, but I actually believe is appropriate here: the pattern is exquisite. It's very well defined, and frankly beautiful.The one-star deduction is for the seller choosing poor packing material. Solid box, well fitted Styrofoam, lousy carboard. They fumbled right before the goal line. The plates themselves are easily 5-stars. If there was evidence that the shipper manhandled the package, there would be no star deduction.Now I have to invite one less person for dinner.
