They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, I guess three pictures is worth three thousand words? Anyway, I don't know why the bicycle industry didn't invent this item years ago. It allows you to lock the handlebars so they are in-line with the frame of your bike. The result? You can lean your bike against a wall in a narrow hallway without blocking your exit. This was particularly important for me because I live in a high-rise apt. bldg., and the fire marshal said that I could not block egress (exit) of my apt.Note: You'll also see a pic of folding pedals, which makes the whole endeavor complete. That is, allowing your bike to lean against a hallway wall with no blockage! (m.)

Hey, thanks for including the handlebar shims! I failed to imagine this is a thing that might exist, and that I might need them. Of course it turns out I did need them, and I had them, so everything went fine!Somebody better at bikes than me is probably up for taking apart the brakes and gearshift, but I just pushed my way through the awkwardness of holding a handlebar with 3 cables attached, and even with having to dismantle half of the handlebar to get the old stem off, took like 45 minutes, 30 of them fumbling with tools.A thing I noted is that if you're just holding it in your hands, the lever is very hard to open. Ignore that, once it's on the bike it's just right, not going to come loose, but smooth because of the shims they added between the lever and the clamp. Another nice touch. Many lesser companies would have put nothing there, or aluminum shims. Secret about aluminum, it's got a lot of friction, especially against itself. I don't know exactly what material these shims are but it's one of the red metals, copper, bronze, brass, which particularly don't like to bond with aluminum. This mechanism should never seize, and those shims will probably last the lifetime of the bike in my hands.

Used it on my Engwe X26. Easy to install and is a tremendous help for storing my bike in the garage and putting it in the back of my car!

Have had this for about a year and it's literally my favorite feature on my bike. Not only is it durable but it's useful in soo many situations. I'm able to bring it my bike indoors easier, lock it up to MANY more locations, but I'm able to lead it around easier as well. Highly recommended!

While I wish this was a little less expensive, I wouldn't want this part to be "cheap."So far, it seems like a great part which does exactly what it's supposed to do. There's a little play in it when not locked so it's possible to tighten it down slightly off center; something to keep an eye on but no big deal.

Works as expected but overpriced. Cables do get in the way when folding/unfolding. The folding bar does hit into the protruding part of the stem and wears off the finish a bit. Design could be improved and lighter in weight. I had to add another headset spacer since my existing stem was a bit taller on the steerer tube. Overall, it turns the handlebar 90 degrees and allows for convenient storage in tight spaces.

Thank you Thinstem! I have always had issues with storing and traveling with bikes. Most recently we purchased folding peddle assist bikes. How convent! Wrong, the handlebars are totally in the way when trying to load the bike. Thinstem solved the issue, now the handlebars fold to match the bike profile. Easy to install and easy to use.
