This is a pretty clever bike lock. Just looking at it, it looks like an ordinary bike chain lock. You don't really see the lock mechanism as having an alarm builtin. The chain itself has a nice cover over it to protect your bike from getting scratched. It's a pretty good size at about 4 feet long.Using the alarm bike lock is pretty simple. There are 3 sets of keys to manually lock/unlock the chain. There are also 2 remote controls that control the various settings of the alarm. One button sets one of 3 volume levels for the alarm. Another button sets one of 2 sensitivity levels of the alarm. There's a button to turn on the alarm and one to turn off the alarm. There's also a button to turn on a small light on the remote. This might be handy when you're trying to use the lock in the dark. The alarm is a 2 step alarm. If the lock is moved, it sets off an initial 2 beep alarm. If it's no longer moved after 2 seconds, the alarm resets itself. However, if it's still being moved after that 2 seconds, a continuous alarm goes off. The alarm is pretty loud and annoying, so it should definitely attract attention. There are no batteries to replace. The chain lock itself has a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that is supposed to last for 1-2 months between charges. The remotes also have rechargeable batteries.Overall, I'm quite pleased with this alarm bike chain lock. I would definitely recommend it.My rating method:1 star - terrible. I wouldn't consider buying it.2 stars - marginal at best. Doesn't meet the minimum requirements or quality to be useful. Buy it at your own risk.3 stars - average. Meets the quality and requirements for a product of this type but is nothing out of the ordinary. If the price is good, I'd probably buy it.4 stars - better than average. Exceeds the typical quality of a product of this type and has a few extra features not usually found on other products of this type. I'd buy it.5 stars - exceptional - far exceeds the quality of products of this type. Hard to beat the quality and features included. Best value for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

I wouldn't use the term "heavy duty" for this lock, with only 6mm thick chain links. This is a perfect "café lock"—that is, a lock to use for a quick stop or to complement a true heavy-duty lock. The length is perfect for lots of configurations—to loop through the front or rear wheel or through a seat that uses a quick-release clamp. The alarm is the key, but not a perfect solution. As others have mentioned, it's too easy to get false alarms, for example, when someone bumps into your bike. However, this lock seems very high priced. The addition of an alarm to the chain lock certainly doesn't justify its price of around $70. A good 6mm bike chain can be had for less than $15 and a stand-alone alarm for less than $20 (which might be a better way to go anyway).Nevertheless, this is, as I said, a fairly good chain lock, but only as an auxiliary measure, especially if you're protecting an expensive ebike (as is the case for me). A decent bolt cutter can easily make quick work of a 6mm chain link—meaning, this should be used mainly in open and public places where a thief would be noticed by others, especially with the alarm activated.

The lock and alarm seem to work as intended. It is a nice, robust chain, with a cloth cover to protect whatever it is you are locking from scratches. The alarm works as you would expect - any sudden movements and it will start to sound. The remote controls work well to arm and disarm the alarm. Bot the alarm and the remotes are re-chargeable via USB-C.The disappointing part for me is that when I saw the remote with lock and unlock buttons, I assumed these would actually work on the lock. They do not. The lock is opened by key only. The remotes are for the alarm only. And as the alarm is more sensitive than I would prefer, I probably won't even use it. For my use case, I will be locking up a scooter, and then moving out of earshot. Maybe the alarm will deter someone, but I won't hear it to take any action.Overall, it is fine, and I will probably use the lock and chain as a lock and chain, but honestly, I expected more.

This is solid because of the alarm and the weight. It would be suitable in a small town where theft is rare. It is lightweight and compact. The main draw being the alarm. It is loud. This comes with a keychain fob that was already charged on reception. The chain needed to charged out of the box. Use it with another lock. A thicker chain or u-lock. I image two of these would be nice around the wheels on a secure hitch rack when parking in a parking lot grabbing food/snacks. In any city with food foot traffic, so once you're getting towards half a million people, have a stronger chain. I've felt all over the chain through the protective cover so I can't say if there's any cable running down to activate the alarm if a power tool is running through it. I doubt it. It'll trigger if it messes with the lock box. Still the locking mechanism is easy to insert and release with the key. The keyfob controlling the alarm. It can be a draw attention to yourself save me device

I got this for my husband, who has a moped and a bike to which he added a motor. This four foot long covered bike chain will keep which every moped he is riding safe and secure when he wants to lock it up. The chain comes with an alarm unit. This alarm unit is rechargeable so it will be nice and noisey whenever someone messes with his bike or moped. This is a good thing to have, especially since so many of us now have electric scooter, electric bikes and so on. Good value.
