The chaining is steel and pressed on. I was not thrilled when i saw this. You cannot take it off and replace it with another, this is essential especially for a single speed. To make matters worse, in real life it looks pretty cheap.Although it looks cheap, I threw it on a 90s Cannondale M300.. They work, and the "narrow wide" bumps seem like they are doing their job and keeping the chain on.There is however no good reason to buy this because for $3 less, you can get downright swanky looking cranks with replaceable aluminum rings.

So I can not currently review this item based off strength or longevity or anything other than my opinion on it as it feels, fit and finish, etc. I'll tell you my full opinion on this item, and once I finally get everything I need for this build, I'll give it a strong test. The item came pretty fast, and it was packaged well, they were in a box and each individual arm was wrapped and secured and the had backings on the sprocket to prevent warpage. This is pretty important for my first impression. I have a scrap bike out back that has a square taper so I can test the fit, I'm not at all cranking this thing down hard and setting it in until I'm doing it on the but with light tightening and minimal pressures it feels like it's going to seat just fine. The sprocket has a nice tooth design for doing a fixie conversion, I've used sprockets with similar and they work great. They are rather nice looking in design and finish. I will have zero issues sporting these on a fixie build as long as they seat well and don't end up being poor quality scrap metal. They're lightweight, the sprocket is still flat, everything arrived as it should be. I'm happy with the overall feel of the item. I've seen name brand cranks that didn't seem any better than these right out of the box, but we all understand differences in quality control. We'll find out within the first couple months after I get the fixie project done. I'll let ya'll know!
