This is just a coil spring device, it has no oil dampening. Which is fine considering the price. But if you want the spring to be dampened then you'll need to look elsewhere. Also, mine was missing one of the end bushings and the threads were damaged. Not a big deal, but be prepared.

I feel like it slacked on the quality but for the price, can't beat it?

The unit fits and works but came with broken plastic bushing, used bushing from old unit to overcome problem. Always keep original until replacement arrives.

yes, I've only "jumped" on the bike that i'm building with my 200 lb body and the shock seems legit and softens the bounce. I have 3 of them on my recumbent trike that is under construction. I was able to roll it down my 300 foot driveway and it's a smooth ride on a bumpy driveway. I am using three 26" mountain bike tires at 55 psi and a 44" inch distance between front and rear axles. So the shocks work with my setup.
