Longer than I thought it might be, but functional. Will need to be used differently than the display picture of your tub is up against the wall as most tubs are.

The good first: Really nice quality cedar, smoothly milled. Connectors all go into threaded insertsThe not so good: The design is clearly optimized for rectangular tubs. The construction is simple. Two separate boards that span the tub are joined underneath by two crosspieces. At one is a fixed crosspiece held to the two boards with 4 machine screws. The other crosspiece, which pivots, doesn’t really attach to the boards per se. Rather, it uses a single, central screw knob, the top knurled portion of which pinches down against the boards, more or less holding them in position at that end. There are several problems with this design. The fixed crosspiece is meant to bear against the outside surface of the tub. If your tub tapers at the ends (e.g. as with an oval tub), this crosspiece will only bear against a single point, which allows the entire tray to swing with a slight push. The pivoting crosspiece at the other end is meant to bear against either the inside or outside surface of the tub. If your tub is too wide to have it on the outside, while the pivot allows a better fit the the tub’s curve, it still translates into the ability of that end of the tray to be pushed INTO the tub with a slight push, as the top boards don’t have much excess length on that side. The net result is that on an oval tub, you are barely better off than having a simple board spanning the tub, as the crosspieces provide next to no positive positioning. In addition to all the above, the knurled knob for the pivot is very hard to tighten adequately and if you do manage to get it tight, it will bite into the top boards. This needs a more substantial knob for a better grip, as well as something like a large fender washer to protect the wood.My wife is using this tray as I write this review. With care taken, no problem. But I will be reworking it, adding two connectors to fix the top boards together, and making BOTH crosspieces pivot, along with more substantial knobs to keep them tight when positioned.Best applicability is for rectangular freestanding tubs or perhaps for use in the center of oval freestanding tubs. Unfortunately we cannot do the latter, as the faucet and controls are located top center on our tub.Hopefully, all this makes sense. The bottom line is that this a well-made, but design challenged tub tray. 3 stars from me.

It didn't come with directions. However, it was easy to put together anyways. I like that it is adjustable and it seems sturdy.

First of all, I love the simplistic beauty of this bathtub tray! It combines both farmhouse and modern aesthetics. It is easily adjustable for just about any width tub, although I would say my tub is about as wide as it can go if you want the wooden sides to rest on the outside of the tub. It could go wider if those rested on the inside of the tub. That being said, we have a VERY large freestanding tub!It was very easy to assemble, no instructions necessary, although we did have a bit of a hiccup with one of the screws as pictured below. For some reason the hex head had some metal stuck in it that we had to dig out before we could tighten it with the included allen wrench.Another thing we both love about it is that, being made of cedar, it is very lightweight while still being solid wood! This makes it easy to move, but I can trust the quality because I know it is not particle board. It does appear to be sealed with something so I assume it is water-safe. I'm sure if you wanted to stin it you could easily give it a quick sanding and use the stain of your choice, but I do love the look of the raw wood. For my husband and I, bath time is our date time after the kids go down. We love to read together and enjoy a glass of wine in the tib. It's been a frustration that we haven't had a place to set things in the tub. This has been a beautiful solution! We absolutely love it.

As soon as I opened the box, I could smell the cedar wood. It's just so fragrant! The wood is just beautiful. It's sanded smooth everywhere, though the ends of the longer boards are a little rougher; they are not sharp or anything, they just have some texture. It came tightly packed in a long cardboard box, with the hardware included in a little taped-up bundle. There is a hex wrench included. There are no directions.I was able to assemble this bathtub tray in about 15 minutes. It was very easy with the pre-drilled holes. I did have a little trouble with the final screw, as the hole seems to be off just a little, so the head of the screw isn't countersunk like the other three. It isn't a huge deal, and it won't show, but for $80 it should be better.I've observed that the adjustment screw for the board on the other end needs to be tight to keep the boards together. It's a very streamlined design, quite minimalistic, which I like.I do think the boards are a bit long. I anticipate moving in the near future, otherwise I'd cut off a couple inches to make it less unwieldy. But since I might need those inches, they stay. I'm mostly thinking of how the shower curtain will show a bulge where this tray sticks out over the edge of the tub. It's a very modern, elegant bathtub tray. I don't know the cost of cedar, so perhaps the price is fair. But regardless, this will replace an older wire bathtub tray that has a bit of rust on the edges.I'm looking forward to a hot bath tonight, for sure!
