Works Fantastic If used properly. For the price It is a good buy. Nothing is for free. And as far as the smell goes it smells like fertilizer it's not supposed to smell like roses it's fertilizer that works excellent.

So far so good with this product! As you can see we had a huge infestation of crabgrass which in the photos is all the yellowish brown areas. The last photo shows where it’s mostly grass with a few weeds and it’s very green still. I wanted to get a head start on killing off the crabgrass before the late fall and winter and looks like it’s working as planned. Only wish I read on the bag that it does contain pre emergents which means I won’t be able to overseed until the spring. Was planning on doing that this fall but don’t think I will now. Overall very good product

Hands down the best weed & feed on the market, and I’ve tried them all. As a homeowner, I enjoy gardening & maintaining my own lawn. I was also employed once with our local extension service and gleaned “how to” knowledge from our horticulturalists. This product is the best of its type. No product of this type is perfect, and a pre-emergent (a herbicide applied before weeds ever sprout) is always best. It usually takes both a pre-emergent & a post-emergent. This killed most everything, and the fertilizer is an outstanding performer. The fertilizer is very impressive. And it feeds for about 3 months. It’s hard to find a product to do both. Having both saves you money and work. I also appreciated the fact that the product spreads so easily. Scott’s Weed and Feed is always lumpy and hard to spread.Read the ENTIRE label and do what it says and you will be a happy customer. I’m always amazed at disgruntled buyers who don’t follow directions or buy the wrong product for their particular situation.

I don't know if I received a defective batch or not but, it only worked in spots and seemed to only kill dandelions and sadly, not all of them. I applied the product to my yard, following the directions to the letter. From mowing my lawn first, to using my spreader and spreading around the perimeter of my yard and then spreading in a grid pattern across the yard. I planned it spreading it when there was no rain for the next 2 days. There were no windy conditions. The temperatures have been in the 60s and 70s. And having used Scott's for the past couple of years, also following directions to the letter and having complete success, I'm no amateur at using these products. However, the results of using this bag were absolutely disappointing. A week after application and the only weeds killed have been some of the dandelions. And it's certainly not preventing anything because there are new dandelions popping up next to dead ones. As far as the other weeds around the dandelions, they are thriving and not bothered at all. So the end result has been that I have wasted money and my time using this product. Now, I will have to spend more money and purchase some turf builder and spend more time spreading it. And as for getting a refund, it seems it would be easier to get a new kidney. I definitely don't recommend this product unless you have the money and time to gamble with. Who knows you may get a bag that works and actually kills your weeds?

This product gets better results than the professional fertilizing companies I've used in the past. It gets rid of hard to eradicate weeds and lasts for several months. I suggest a few weeks after application using "Ironite" or a product that has the main or sole nutrient nitrogen for a really green lawn weed free. It's remarkable that the Bayer 5 in 1 eradicates crabgrass too. The only downside to the product is that it definitely has a chemical odor that lingers a a couple days or more. Pour the product into the spreader on cement so if you spill it won't destroy the lawn. Wear long sleeves, gloves, pants, goggles and maybe a mask. Your neighbors might think you're odd but hey better to be safe than have any adverse outcome from using any chemical. Keep pets off too for at least a couple days or until the odor goes away. Those are my suggestions for using this product a couple times of year versus multiple times fertilizing and doing it safely for a weed free, green (use a nitrogen nutrient), lush, professional looking lawn.

Fertilized my 1.5 acre lawn well, and really brought out deeper green in grass, but due to spreader issues with my tow behind spreader for my John Deere lawn tractor, have seen little effect with eliminating weeds. This is my main reluctance to using spreader based weed killers, due to needing to do in the early morning while sufficient dew is still on the grass so it will stick to weeds, always more difficult to depend on high efficiency. After doing first pass in morning with wet grass on lower spreader rate, spreader chute wouldn't close and forced to do 2nd pass on entire yard with grass only slightly wet at that point later in the morning, and may have caused first pass particles sticking to broad leaf weeds to be knocked off.
