It works as a cheap optical audio cable splitter. This is a Passive adapter, so it will cause signal loss. It is acceptable for short runs and specific use cases. Build quality is very cheap, just like the price.

For the price, this should do the trick. One complaint (but this seems to be universal across passive splitters of any cost) is that there is no door that closes the channels if there is no connection on them. So it's a perfect dust collector. But if the cable is on (there is no "polarity"-the connection can be rotated 180 degrees and still fit) it is going to be covered.I had no problems getting a connection on either side using a 15 ft optical cable, so I wouldn't expect there will be much trouble on shorter cables. Some passive splitters recommend less than 10 feet per side. Your attenuation will be about 3 dB, and there will be losses and dispersion at the connections. But I saw no issues at 192 kHz digital signals with this length.The inputs and outputs feel a little cheap (but hey, look at the price) but the outputs do seem to be lensed.
