The fire safety and code compliance documentation that accompanies this junction box are in Chinese and English. The box feels very plastic, but I used it to encase an unused aluminum appliance wire that is also shut off at the breaker. The wiring was fat so I had to cut the opening up a bit with some shears. The box mounted easily on to the wood planks and I was able to shove the capped ends into the box. The lid feels a bit flimsy, but I was able to click it into place and secure with the extra screws it comes with. I don't know if this is US code compliant, but if you are using it to encase dead wires like me, it should work fine. I don't know how flame retardant it is, as it just feels like plastic.

Easy installation, nice quality and it seals back tight, functions perfectly and it's a value for the money

The product came with some documentation related to its testing for fire resistance and certification. I did not expect all that, but seeing it made me feel like the maker cared more. The product was easy to work with. Only two cables were used, and with that there was plenty of space. There was clearly space for more connections, though.Given the intent to be able to house an open splice, the ports for the cables did not seem to provide any kind of grabbing consistent with something like a knockout connector. However, in reviewing information about the product, there is some language reminding of securing the cable within a given distance of the box (albeit that would entail securing with other hardware separately purchased). There was a slight annoyance in that the box lid is hinged on and closes up and down. However, where the product was mounted the lid contacted the ceiling above it, and so the lid could not be opened all the way, and work had to be done while fighting with the lid by chronically pushing the lid back up to see what was being done with the lid chronically falling back down. Given that the product lid after being shut can also be screwed shut with provided screws, I wonder if a non-hinged lid would work better. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with the product.

Great little product. I needed to insert a new light in an existing cable run. Very easy to install. This allowed me to do it without cutting and splicing the entire 14/3 cable. Otherwise I would have needed two boxes and an added maintenance loop.
