I plugged the adapter into an A+E key wifi slot, then inserted an M.2 m key SSD into the adapter. At first, the system would not read the SSD, in fact windows insisted the SSD was corrupt even though crystaldisk info saw the drive. I went into disk management and tried to format the drive, no luck. Then I tried formatting the drive from file explorer, and that worked!!! Amazing. The system is a HP elitedesk mini 800 g4.
