Don't even need map gas for it to do what you want. I can do anything with a green camping tank as I can with a map gas tank...

I bought this last year to finish steaks that had been cooked in a hot water bath. It worked really well and I used it maybe 20 times in a year and a half. Tonight I got it out to finish two pieces of salmon and a volleyball sized ball of flame erupted from joint between the body of the torch and the brass fitting between the torch body and the propane cylinder. I was able to blow out the flame and turn off the gas. Thinking I hadn't screwed it together enough, I tightened it and tried again. Same fireball which comes out from the all around the joint . Fortunately I have used various torches all my life and reacted appropriately. Someone less experienced might drop the torch and start a major fire. Not safe until redesigned.

Bought this to replace my Benzomatic Torch since it stopped igniting after 1 month. No issues with this torch, it lights up immediately and a consistent wide flame.. Perfect for starting a campfire or Japanese wood burning.
