This kit did NOT include instructions specific to the use on the parts. Specifically, the defrost timer is designed to replace multiple previous models and come with a black jumper wire which is connected to either terminal #1 or #2 depending on the wiring of your refrigerator. The defrost timer will not advance if it is wired incorrectly causing the defrost cycle to fail. I couldn’t find any information on the suppliers website. You will need to search for another products instructions accordingly. The refrigerator thermometer mounting support was too short for my refrigerator model but still functioned. The defrost thermostat works as expected while having different temperature range parameters than the original.Overall, good price for what seems to be functional parts after 2 weeks in the appliance.

A direct replacement for the Whirlpool factory part. No having to alter anything to "make it fit". Should I need any parts for my fridge in the future this is the company I will get them from. Cost wise, the factory cold control is 8 times as expensive and doesn't come with the defrost control either.

Lost a haul of groceries when the defrost timer quit. Ordered these and had it all installed in about an hour. Everything fits, works like it should and fridge is cold again!

I needed only the cold control; did not install the defrost timer or bimetal thermostat.I used a remote reading thermometer to ascertain that the cold control keeps temps precisely within +/- 1 degree F, which is great, but I barely turn the control on to get this setting. The OEM part would maintain correct temps when the arrow is straight up; i.e. noon on a clock face. My setting is more like 6:30 pm, with 5:00 pm turned completely OFF. If this control ages poorly or dies early I will spend the extra $ for the OEM part. There are two screws on the unit. I'm hoping that one is an offset that will allow me to get normal temps in the normal range of travel of the dial. The shaft on this control is perhaps 1/8" too long - the knob sticks out from the face of the control panel in the fridge, which looks a bit crummy. I am a bit disappointed at the substandard fit and finish, but it's a lot of work to open the panel up to reinstall this part. If you buy this, check the fit of your appliance knob on the old vs new control before you install, and either saw the shaft on the new or install it with the control ears BEHIND the mounting bracket instead of in front. You'll probably need machine screws, lockwashers and nuts to do this, instead of using the wood screws that the original mount uses, because the holes on the control are oversize and not threaded; thus, if the control is behind the bracket that has the threads, it will need to be attached solidly to the bracket somehow. My capilary tube was almost exactly the same length as the OEM part, but the plastic sleeve covering it was a couple inches short, so I salvaged a bit of plastic tubing from the old part to make sure the capillary was covered entirely.Original symptoms that caused me to buy this part: Freezer started to thaw, so I turned up the cold control; then, the refrigerator started freezing while the freezer was still not cold enough. Cleaned the compressor coils thoroughly, which helped the unit to run more efficiently, but the fridge/freezer began shutting down, requiring the occasional reset to get it to start up again. It would work for a few days then shut down again. Over the course of about a two week period it went from needing a reset every few days to needing one every 12 hours. Towards the end, I really had a hard time getting the unit to start up again. Since the compressor was still working (things were getting cold) I ordered this kit to see if it would help, and it did. So I am glad to have saved the cost of a new fridge and a service call, but I would say this is a compatible part not a direct replacement.

Kenmore 2 door fridge. Is not calibrated correctly or is faulty. Turned setting to normal & it freezes items in refrigerator area. Goes to -2 in freezer compartment. Everything fit perfectly but does not work correctly.

This product comes as a package deal, meaning you get the main thermostat unit, the defrost timer, and the defrost temperature sensor .My refrigerator started defrosting the freezer to the point where quite a bit of food was spoiled.I tried turning up the thermostat and the freezer was getting cold , but then it wouldn't shut off at all.I knew I needed to see what was available and of course, Amazon had this item.It arrived the next day, and of course there are many videos out there on installation.Total instanll time was about an hour. The great part is that my old refrigerator is working like new again!
