Web videos exist for help. I cut wires on old one and used a wire nut to connect this and its wires to old wires. Make sure you are hooking up the wires same as the old. Had to replace the defrost heater also. My ten year old refrigerator is defrosting now. All is good. Product looks like the OEM part. It works, what can I say. Price was right.

Works as expected! Wires are tinned and of slightly thinner diameter than OEM; my OEM part had pure copper wiring, but that's okay. Potted the splice in silicone. Will update this review if anything changes with the reliability of this product.

I have a GE with freezer on top. Install videos were for side by side so the biggest challenge was removing the parts that snap in to the back wall without breaking the tabs. Hint, squeeze. Once the back is off inside the freezer, the thermistor is easily seen and replaced. Test is simple with an ohm meter but for $8 it's just as easy to replace at this point. The only change after was my freezer, which was normal set at setting 4, is now at setting 1 to get the freezer to 0 degrees. (warmer setting). If left at 4, the defroster can't keep up and the food starts to build up frost.

After seeing frost in freezer and not cold enough on refrigerator side. I ordered both defrost thermostat and heater. Old defrost heater was dead with no continuity. Even tough old thermostat was still working, I replaced both any way. It is pretty easy to install. Now refrigerator is working nicely. I can see defrosting at certain time interval. Frig side is cool.
