It fell apart as soon as I used it. Its very cheap feeling and the push button part failed first.

This is through hole type. It work with Library in Arduino IDE. however, it is common to add 0.1uF across the switch to debounce.

These cheap little rotary encoders bounce. A LOT. If you use them, better make sure your microcontroller knows how to handle them. Wanted to use them for a totorial on how to use rotary encoders, but ended up not using them because they are so unreliable. Stay away.

Images on both the listing and packaging showa shortened stem that allows the knob to be flush with the housing. I received regular sized encoders. These are too tall for my needs as is.They're not useless as I will use a Dremel to cut them shorter, but I wouldn't have to do that if the product was as advertised.EDIT:Only after I installed two of them did I realize that all 5 shafts are not true vertical. They all wobble off axis when spun. These are horrible.

What was recieved was not as displayed. Caps are not flush with base. Shafts are longer than what is displayed
