The Jonsteen Company is a California tree company and nursery specializing in Giant sequoia and Coast redwood trees. Born in America's National Parks (c. 1992), we're on a mission to share the knowledge, joy & experience of trees with everyone.

All of our trees are seed-grown at our nursery on California's Redwood Coast, which is inspected and licensed by the California Dept. of Agriculture.

From California's massive Giant Sequoias and towering Coast Redwoods to the Jurassic Dawn Redwood from China, redwood trees are without a doubt one of the great wonders of our planet. Small Tree Seedling
Approx. 1 year-old, with a root plug about the size of a test tube.

Approx. 1 to 2 years-old, with a root plug about the size of a small soup can.

I'm extremely pleased, I was looking for bonsai trees and found this gem. My brother's birthday is coming up and I wanted to surprise him with some trees so we could start bonsai collection together. They came way earlier than stated which was awesome. I planted them in pots today. All is good, waiting for 2 from each group to wake up and start bidding. Maybe soon. Thank you.

I have a brown thumb when it comes to plants: everything I try to grow tries to die. But I adore bonsai. I got 2 of these packs and the seedlings not only survived but are thriving as indoor bonsai. I fully intend to get more over time to expand my new bonsai collection.

I like these but 2 did not make it. I grow alot and just didn't look good upon arrival. But the others are strong and looking good.

Shipped and delivered much quicker than promised- always a nice surprise. They arrived well packaged. The trees are all extremely healthy looking, and are much bigger than expected. I'm excited to get to work on my bonsai. BUT, note that if you order deciduous trees in winter they will arrive without leaves! Please don't punish these poor folks with negative reviews because you don't know how plants work. I would happily order from them again. Will try and update my review in a month or so!Edit: 1-month check in, and I'm almost completely satisfied with these little trees! The oak, dawn redwood, and Japanese maple arrived without leaves and since then the redwood and maple have exploded with foliage! Both pines have vigorous new growth as well. However I'm starting to think that the oak arrived dead since the wood is very brittle and dry on the tips, and I haven't seen any new budding yet. Not to worry though- I'll give it another couple weeks and if it is still looking dead then, I'll take Jonsteen's up on their "free" replacement tree gaurentee ("free" because you still pay for shipping but I'll take it!). I've already started wiring the white pine, and am really happy with the interesting characteristics of all these trees. They are living indoors until things warm up a little more (it's been chilly overnight in Seattle lately), and I'm excited to work more on my new bonsais in the coming months and years!Edit 2: I got restless and contacted Jonsteens's the day after I posted the first update above... They asked for pictures of the oak, and following that shipped out a replacement (received 3 days after!). The new oak is beautiful and definitely alive. Very thankful for the wonderful customer service at Jonsteen's. They definitely have a new repeat customer in me!

First I will say over all I was happy with all the products I got from Jonsteen. four of the plants showed up looking great and the bristolcone had great movement in the small trunk. The Issue I had with the purchase, to only score average was I got this and 5-6 other saplings and I didn't see any difference between these sapling or the others (expect the bristolcone) it didn't seem like these sapling were selected for any bonsai qualities I mind just selected as breeds that typically are used for bonsai
