I have several sets of these on my ebb and flow beds. High quality and durable feeling.

There is no issue with this product but I was expecting something quite different. These are one of the first/only result when you search for "bell siphon", so I thought the wider drain piece might have a bell siphon structure inside. The way that works is it allows the water level to rise up to a certain level, and then drain all the water at once. That was my plan for an ebb & flow setup, and I was pretty confused when I got this product and it was just a pair of bulkheads with some extensions to screw on top. After a bunch of testing to confirm that these don't have any magical properties, I finally figured out how they are supposed to be used. The wide piece is only for overflow; its height determines the max water level. The narrow piece determines the min water level. You implement the flood/drain cycle by putting a timer on the pump; when the pump is on, water comes in through the narrow piece, and when the pump goes off, the water drains back down through the narrow piece and out through the pump. Also, another reviewer said to drill 1" holes -- the ones I have here definitely require 1 3/8" holes. That's the inner diameter of the gasket. The threaded part of the extensions is 1" wide, so she may have mounted it with a 1" hole that way. That'll make it more flush with the bottom of the flood table, but it won't involve the gasket so it may leak.

After trying to 3d print these kind of fittings with low success and major frustration, I decided to buy this product. It's injection molded plastic and very strong. I'll likely be buying another set when required.

Exactly what I needed. You may want to look at their line for tubing that's appropriately sized. After searching for something similar, I was able to make-shift something with a few different parts from home hardware, but the cost was as much as these ended up being and it wasn't purpose built as these are.

The best ebb n flow fittings that I have used. The screen and the extensions screw into the fitting unlike some of the other brands that just slip on that extra piece of mind is worth it to not come home to an empty resivor where the pressure of your pump has blown off your screen and spewed water everywhere.

The fittings work great and have all the necessary pieces to make the flood table flood deeper or shallower. I like everything about this product except the lack of directions. You’ll need a 1 3/8” hole bit for your drill, assuming your tray didn’t come with holes.

The fittings themselves are good quality plastic (hopefully food-safe) that doesn't leak and appear very sturdy, no danger of breaking or cracking. But Botanicare, it would have done you no harm to include some instructions. At least put up a helpful Youtube video. Here's what I finally figured out. The correct hole saw size is 1". 1-3/8" (indicated in the Q&A) is too big, but can work if you don't mind the jiggling. Each piece has two parts, one of which goes completely under the grow tray. The other screws into it from above, through the hole you drilled. Also when set up this way, the openings are nearly flush with the bottom of the grow tray, so there won't be extra standing water left after a flood/drain cycle. The correct tubing size for the inlet side is 1/2" INNER DIAMETER. Note that if you buy "1/2 inch tubing" you get 1/2" OUTER DIAMETER tubing, which is not correct. The tubing I got happened to be 5/16" outer diameter, but this measurement doesn't matter. The tubing fits snugly on the Botanicare fitting and connects to the large size (13 mm) nozzle on your submersible pump. Also not described anywhere is how to adjust the height of the overflow drain by partially unscrewing the pieces. When I first got it, I was annoyed that there were really only two choices for overflow height (too low or too high) before I figured this out.Because I used stacking containers for the reservoir & grow tray, I don't have any tubing at all on the overflow drain. This should however take 3/4" inner diameter tubing. So that's it. Now I see why people are willing to pay huge markups for complete systems, instead of trying to figure out how to DIY it for less than half the cost. I suppose that's why companies are so reluctant to provide instructions.

Hot damn, these are just what I needed for my Flood Table setup. These units come with rubber washers for a snug, leak-free fit. The inlet is 1/2" and outlet is 3/4" which is exactly what you need for the pump and the drain. The fittings are all standard thread, so you wont have any trouble getting a few more pieces for the drain riser if it doesn't quite work for you. Both fittings have screens so you dont get roots or plant matter clogging up your plumbing. All in all I highly recommend this unit if you ever want to get into Ebb and Flow Hydroponics.

Love these Heavy Duty fittings. They are threaded and can be connected to PVC pipes if you wish. They are very flexible in application use. I only use these and have about 6 of them. However if you were using a cheaper fitting in your tables, these may not fit into the tables as the holes may have been cut to close together because these fittings are a little bit thicker then cheaper ones. I had a second hand table and these would not sit straight because the holes were to close and thought it may leak.. Other then that these are the ones you want and at a great price too.

These were easy to install and have worked well thus far (~1 month into the system running). I really liked the ease and simplicity of installing these and letting them do the rest of the work. They came with a bunch of different tube fittings and were a cinch to put together.I appreciate how simple and effective the units are. They do exactly as they were intended and are built, in my opinion, really well. The plastic isn't cheap and flimsy and I don't get the impression these are going to break any time soon. I will be getting a second set for another system soon!

I really liked this kit for my terrarium. I was having problems with water draining through, and getting clogged from the fish poop and other bio solids you get in an aquaponics system. ! is a 3/4 inch fitting ,and the other is half inch. I use them as a drain, where the 1/2 inch performs normal drainage, and the 3/4 provides an overflow safety. Also the screen, and risers can be unscrewed, allowing better configuration of the two. Nice thick rubber washer gaskets as well, So no need for any kind of sealant. Does the job right.
