So easy to install the wires. You can pull the terminals out for easy connection.Do not follow instructions Step 1.3. Don’t expose 2” of copper! That is just silly. Cut back 2.75” off the wire jacket and .5” exposed copper at the end.Look at Figure 1, that’s the ticket.

The female end on my RV's 30 amp extension cable burned out last week and rather than replace the entire 100 foot length of cable, which costs well over $100, I ordered this replacement plug for a fraction of the cost. The piece was well made of a molded resin and seemed to be very durable. It was important to me that the replacement part I ordered was ETL certified, which this was. I would hesitate to buy any electrical device that was not ETL, UL or CSA certified. The best part was it came with very detailed instructions on exactly how long to cut and strip the individual conductors so that they would fit into the receptacle and connect to the terminals perfectly. Now if you're an electrician maybe you don't need that, but it definitely helped me. The only downside is the instructions cautioned that it was not intended for wet environment, and these types of chords are typically used in the rain, etc. So I used some silicone sealant around the edges where the two halves come together, and hopefully this will prevent any moisture from seeping in. I just won't let it sit in a puddle! So far I'm very pleased and would recommend this brand if you need a heavy duty replacement part.

It's hard to tell the quality from pictures but I thought it would be more rubbery like my original plug. I was surprised to find it a hard plastic but was happy that it was extremely robust. I don't feel like this plug will break any time soon and i do believe it'll handle years of abuse. The ring built into the top half of the plug was a nice feature that will give me a better hold when inserting or removing into pedestals or generators.Inside, the plug is labeled (molded into housing) with the correct places for wires (black, white, green) and I feel like someone with zero experience could wire this in correctly with the directions provided. You can physically remove the prongs to aid in easier wiring and simply install them back into their corresponding place when your finished. Make sure you install the strain relief in the top half of the plug (one with the ring) before you try and snap the two pieces together, otherwise, it won't close properly leaving you wondering why it doesn't sit flush.Overall, I like the product a lot. I wouldn't hesitate to order another if i ever need it and would be willing to recommend this item to anyone looking for upgrade their original plug and go with something a little more ergonomic and updated in style.
