I have a bag full of the cheap imported rotary encoders that cost about $1 each. About 50% of them are defective, so you have to test them to find a few that seem to work. Most are do not reliably send the proper gray code. I need to replace two of the cheap encoders because they have started to seriously miss steps and have generally failed. I decided to purchase some name brand encoders from Bourns because with a company reputation at stake at least they should have some quality control and maybe they would at least work out of the bag. No such luck. I purchased 3 and all three are defective. Their performance is even worse than the cheap versions, and these cost about $8 each. Stay away. I can't find any brand markings on them and as such they are probably just the same cheap versions that this seller is repackaging and trying to pawn off as the genuine article.

Good Item. I used it on a machine build small and works great.
