It sticks out. I cut the rod to the proper length but forgot to cut out the notch. I she’s out it back together and honestly it didn’t bother me that it sticks out so I’m going to leave it. This replacement switch will outlast the car

bought this for my Mazda 2002 protege5 description says it is compatible B.S. it is too long sticks out 1" from face plate do not buy buyer beware junk !!!!!!!

This switch does not fit my 2002 Mazda Protege5 it is too long. Tried to make it work and it failed anyway.

It worked great for my protege5 but the shaft was a little too long so I had to trim it down.

The item arrived quickly, and was exactly what I needed to fix my center console knob control.. or whatever it's called I'm lazy. Good part is that it fits right onto the clip that is part of the wiring behind the stereo. Mine I think is a little bit more broken than most will be, so it fits a little loosely but I'll just glue it in that.
