I have an entry-level PJ bass with a bridge pickup that doesn't blend or solo very well. It might as well not have that pickup. I didn't want to replace it with another single-coil, since there wouldn't be much chance that it would blend any better than the stock pickup, and a solo single-coil bass bridge pickup is always going to sound strident.I ordered this set (for cheap!) and it arrived in just a few days. I removed my old bridge pickup, widened the pocket by a large amount, and dropped in the hotter of the pair (red cable, 13.8). Now I have a bridge pickup that's actually worth soloing, and my bass can pretend to be either a P bass or a passive Ray. The blended tone is weak, but not worse than before.I might just keep it the way it is now, but I also might pull out P pickup so that I can drop in the front humbucker so that I end up with Warwick Corvette $$ inspired configuration. That's how good of a deal this is- even if you use just half of the set, your money already went a long way.

Another great upgrade for SBMM 5 string bass with two humbuckers. These are higher output than the stock pickups. I would recommend wiring them parallel and you should be able to find a schematic for that (using a 5 way super switch) on the interwebs

Got a DIY kit during the peak of the pandemic. The pickups that came with the kit were very boring. They had a very plain mid/high tone to them and lows sounded to muddy. Even after rewiring a different harness set up with different pots they were a still a let down I've always loved the sound of fat pole pickups. Both hums and Jbass types. Thought I'd give these a shot. This is an awesome balance for playing funk, death metal and playing covers from bands like Tool, Amon Amarth, Whitechapel as well as Rush and Primus. I don't leave reviews very often but felt obliged to leave one. I rely on user reviews to make purchases like this. Personally love my Bass now. Thanks

I have often found the inexpensive pickups sound very close the their expensive name brand counterparts. This not always so but in this case these pickups sound great in my bass when paired with good pots. The first set I received did not work so I asked for a return and had the replacements within a few days. All I had to do was drop the first set off at a UPS store with my return code, I didn’t even have to box them. Great service, great pickups, great price.

Sooo... if you're looking to upgrade or build a 5 string bass equivalent to the ernie ball line, these are where you need to start! This is just my opinion but, these pickups for the price are pretty incredible! I would certainly recommend them!!!

My wife bought these for me to install in aftermarket P-Bass project. I was so impressed with the tone and noiseless performance of these pups, that I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I would put these up against any high-end pups that I have bought in the past. These things growl, for a fraction of the cost. I would give these six stars if I could.

Very good pickup. You WILL have route a custom cavity for installation.
