I like the size of this tamper; fits nicely in the hand and is long enough for my quart jars so your hand doesn't smack on the rim of the jar when you're using it.If you live in a dry climate, it is definitely a good idea to condition it with some olive oil now and then to keep it from cracking.

The wood is so pretty as well as functional! I am using it to mash fermented vegetables and it works as it should. It is easy to wash off and keep clean.

I use this for sauerkraut to pound it into jars .works great . Beautiful wood . excellent craftsmanship on the wood no splinters ,splits or rough spot.

Perfect for and easy on the hands, making sauerkraut. Wide and narrow ends depending on the batch size and bowl used. Softening cabbage for kraut can be hard on the hands but this is the perfect solution. Looks pretty sitting on my countertop too.

This is a very strong, solid tool that will have no problem smashing and crushing foods.Acacia is a hard, beautiful wood, so this stick reflects those natural benefits.It would easily get 5 stars if it weren't for some cosmetic flaws.There are at least a half dozen dings along the handle that look like they were made by the tip of a flat head screwdriver, all the same but at different angles.And the large end of the tool is smooth and well finished while the small end feels like the final finishing stage was missed, so it's somewhat rougher.But it will get the job done.I hope this helps.
