Company Info: Owned and operated by U.S. Veterans. We have been certified by the VA as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. We are a husband-wife team and served in the Army and Marine Corps, respectively. We love America and we love homebrewing.
Our “why”: We are homebrewers and this business was born out of our simple desire to replace our broken gear with higher quality options. We live in the Blue Mountains (hence our mountain logo). We are hours away from our nearest LHBS (Local Homebrew Shop), so Amazon is our best option for replacement gear. But the options for homebrewing equipment seemed lackluster and low quality. So we decided to create our own and Brewing America was born in 2017.
Product Development: Quality and Performance. Brewing America is constantly looking at how we can bring the best homebrewing products to the masses. Our main focus is on hydrometer testing kits. We have a variety of hydrometers for homebrewers and distillers and they can be bought as kits with our super-awesome glass test jar and a stainless steel brush. We designed our borosilicate 3.3 glass test cylinder to solve the pain points we were having with using so much brew to take a test. We knew a 1-piece borosilicate glass tube was needed for quality of the product, scratch resistance and sanitation, product strength for distillers, and a potentially wide range of sudden temperature changes.

The hydrometer seems like it’s solidly made, and given other reviews looks accurate for the price. Nice to have both alcohol and sugar concentrations plus the gravity readings. Packaging was iffy tho which surprised me.Just comes in a plastic sleeve with a piece of foam at the smaller end, would have though there would be both ends with foam and then be wrapped in bubble wrap or something as well especially given the price, so disappointed there.The larger end with no foam actually broke the plastic container in shipping but the hydrometer itself didn't break (why i think it must be decently strong at least). I really think the seller should package the product better especially since it wouldn't cost much of anything.

My husband had one but our toddler broke it. He ordered this one and likes it even better. He uses it to measure sugar content and alcohol content in his brews for wine and mead.

Took me a second to figure out that it floats in the beer according to the level it is measured at, not like a thermometer that sits at the bottom and the fluid inside rises. Seems to be definitely measuring things, have nothing to compare it to for accuracy, but what I'm looking for is the difference in SG readings, and it has definitely been giving me different readings depending on the time from first brew, so that's good. Comes well protected and happy with purchase.

It works. If you need a hydrometer, this is a good one that works. It comes with a tube you can use it in as well. Very well packaged, it shouldn’t break in shipping but in general these things are fragile so be careful.

I just used this for the first time. Had decided not to buy a separate glass test jar. The plastic sleeve that the hydrometer comes in works perfectly. Also the plastic sleeve is quite narrow and works filled half-way with liquid. Once you immerse the hydrometer and it is not touching the bottom the liquid looks almost full. Tested it with water and then used it for homebrew. See picture. Works great.Caution: The plastic sleeve is very tall and narrow, if you use it for measurements, take care to not topple it over. Do not set it on a sloping surface.

I am using this hydrometer to check the alcohol content of fermented Kombucha tea. I am impressed with the quality of the product and the seller. Since I have bought my hydrometer the seller has continued to " touch base" and see how it was going with my new product. Before you buy a Hydrometer make sure you do some research on how to use it. You may be excited to just plop in there and test however that is not exactly that simple. The instructions that came with it are helpful but it may still take a YouTube video or two to understand. While our first one came broken in shipping, but the company was more than willing to work with us on getting it replaced directly and were very pleasant to work with. If you do not have the proper containers to test I definitely suggest their clear glass 4 Oz Test Tube.

The description makes it sound like the 'case' works as a tube. It DOESN'T. Far too small and short. Now I have to wait for tube from another seller...which bring the total up about $5 dollars more than sets by other sellers that include a tube. If I'd have only read the low reviews, I'd have known. So here ya go.
