It wasn't easy to replace the camshaft, but I did with this Briggs and Stratton OEM replacement. It's working perfectly after the 12 year old compression release on the old camshaft broke. Hopefully, this one will last 12 years, too.

I used this part to replace a broken part of the camshaft on a 19hp briggs and stratton engine. The part seems to be a good replacement for the original. The motor still starts and runs as it should.

Man this is def worth the money and peace of mind !!! Instead of the cheap ones that cam break instantly or down the road a few hrs in . This one is OEM briggs and comes with the tappets and oil pump part (didn't fit mine) but man going strong on the mower!

My 2014 John Deere D105 lawn tractor with the 17.5 Hp Briggs & Stratton engine suffered from the dreaded no roll-over issue due to the camshaft compression release breakageInstalled this OEM cam shaft in my 17.5hp Briggs and Stratton engine after the compression release mechanism broke (part of the camshaft). Engine now rolls over (and starts) without hand assistance. Lots of inexpensive aftermarket cams, but there are plenty of warnings to use genuine B&S camshafts as the aftermarket ones are prone to quick failure. Too much work repairing this issue to save 150 bucks.

I have gone to OEM only Cam's since the aftermarket are so iffy..Briggs has made some recent modification to their cams which supposedly improve long term life of these cams. I'm at number 15 of these, seeing these all the time needing replacement. Many times I pull the old one and there's nothing visibly wrong, but obviously the cam was not releasing compression correctly (lazy springs?)...I also suspect in these case where there is no visible damage that lack of oil changes may cause the cam to be sticky. There's no way to tell until you pull the engine apart. but I never put a suspect one back into a motor.

It was a good price, most are closer to $100 or more. The part now has my mower running as it should. However, I did have have it installed, it was too big of a job for myself. The repair shop I took it too could not find one from his suppliers, so I bought it here. Additionally, be sure to get the pan gasket and oil seal for your engine they will be needed.

Fits Briggs and Straton 18.5HP intek motor perfectly. Don't buy anything but OEM when it comes to your camshaft. Fixed a broken ACR issue for me. The symptoms included cranking and starting issues i had on a husqvarna yth18542 (starter is engaging but then stops as it can't overcome compression). Just be absolutely sure that you set your valves correctly or the ACR won't work properly afterwards. Great quality part, would reccomend. I've had it installed for a year now and I give my lawnmower hell. It's done great and I've had no issues.
