My old muffler was rusted and rattling away. This replacement fit just fine and makes the engine much more quiet. Note that original heat shield doesn’t fit but you don’t need that. I also added a deflector to this muffler to make it even quieter

The original on my 27 year old Murray lawn tractor had a different design, but the interface with the engine is the same on this replacement. Bolt holes lined up perfectly. Now my mower runs quietly again and this one’s lower profile looks better too.

This was my third attempt at getting a muffler for my 1972 riding mower. It fit and works. I might make and add a deflector to kill more noise but it sounds like my original.

This replacement muffler was for a 12H.P. Briggs & Stratton engine fit like a glove and is quiet unlike Another aftermarket replacement that was way to noisy.

This muffler has the same bolt pattern as 795073, but it has a stub inlet pipe that interferes with the riser that is used with the other. If you don't need to replace the riser then just cut this stub off (and likely the mounting tab on the same side) and it fits fine, saving you $30. I used this muffler on a DR Premier 26" field and brush mower (with only 75 hours on it, which says something - and not a good something - about the longevity of these mufflers).

Fits Like a Glove on my 1992 MTD LT (132662F118) 38 inch Mower with Briggs & Stratton 12.5HP I/C Engine Code (286707-0420-01). Item received in B&S box, in perfect condition, with all hardware shown in picture. Note: It also had muffler mounting screw(not pictured), and there are no washers required. The muffler fit perfectly. It took me awhile to finally purchase this particular muffler, as the item is discontinued on the MTD website, and there are several YouTube videos showing a screw-in threaded type muffler. The exhaust hole on this particular model is larger than 1 inch, so this type muffler had to be used. The muffler works as advertised, although it doesn't "muffle" the noise as much as I assumed it would. This is my first experience piecing together an older model riding mower. It was given to me by a lady who had it stored in her garage. It wasn't running when I got it, and it needed ALOT of attention to get it running. There was no muffler on the mower when I received it. I have left before and after pictures which include the new muffler. Now I'm off to diagnose the mowers issue with shutting down when reverse is selected. Yes, the blades are disengaged.
