I installed this on the bow of my aluminum Jon boat but placed a ¼-inch Al backing plate under the shroud. That soaked up the torque and ensured no problems. I will have to change out my 30-inch shaft trolling motor for 36-inch to prevent cavitation. Otherwise, it was easy to install, is fit for purpose, and appears well made. Recommended.

I bought this mount to attach to my kayak with my trolling motor. Upon opening the package and installing it to my kayak I notice I am missing the bolt with the black knob at the end that attaches to the deck mount. I was thrilled to get it all assembled for my birthday weekend trip. Now I can't enjoy to take my kayak out at the coast.

Looks like this could handle any very small horsepower motor or electric trolling motor easily. It comes with bolts that have nuts on the end, but if you’re going to attach it with screws, make sure they are very strong. A good motor can put a lot of torque on the mount.

Item is nice without a doubt, but an (inside) backing plate is needed for installation on fiberglass boats to make secure I figure, & should be included with price adjusted accordingly.

I was reluctant to purchase this after reading some of the complaints. The black mounting bracket was described by some as plastic and weak. It was much more substantial than I thought it would be. The solid aluminum contruction seems like good quality. The bolts that come with it as mentioned by others are definitely too small. They measured 1 inch long, and by the time you add the washers and the mounting plate, there just isn't enough length. A quick trip to the hardware store seems worth it to me.Update. May 12th.I reached out to Brocraft asking to order just the black mounting bracket and hardware because mine fell off from a loose bolt. They responded back to me within an hour or two and added it to Amazon for me to get another one. This mounting block seemed more substantial even than the one i had purchased almost 2 years ago. Excellent customer service.
