I really wanted to like the Brook Power Bay Crimson - Portable and Fast Charging Dock Stand. The design is sleek and stylish, and it looked like a great solution for charging my device on the go. However, after trying it out, I was left disappointed.The main issue is the fit. The dock didn’t sit quite right, and when I tried to use it, I noticed it seemed to put an uncomfortable amount of pressure on the connector. I took a chance because I couldn’t find any definitive information online about whether this dock was compatible with the OLED version of my device, and unfortunately, it didn’t work out. The connector felt off-center and forced, and I was worried about damaging the charging port over time.While the Brook Power Bay Crimson has a lot of potential with its design and portability, the lack of a secure fit and the pressure it places on the connector made it unappealing for regular use. I really appreciate the look and the concept, but I was hoping for a more solid, reliable connection, especially considering the price.If you’re using an OLED model or any device with specific port requirements, I would recommend double-checking compatibility before buying this dock. I ended up not using it much, as I didn’t feel confident that it would protect my device in the long run.In short, the Brook Power Bay Crimson has style, but it falls short in terms of function and fit. I couldn’t find the solid, secure charging solution I was looking for.

This thing is just great. Does everything advertised great. The only gripe I have is updating the firmware requires a USB C female to whatever to connect to your computer and the update application doesn't clearly specify to long hold the turbo button when connecting the cable to make the connection work. It does say it in the instruction PDF but it still wouldn't hurt for the updater to be more clear. But that's my only gripe. Thing is great all around,enjoying test a GC controller with random games.

Per the instructions I went out and purchased an official Nintendo power adapter. With that power adapter and a normal HDMI cable attached to the television I am unable to get any output (I have tried several cables.) The TV has a notification that it sees the device connected but there is no output. If I use the official switch dock it works normally.

Dock works fine but the gamecube funtion doesn't work. I tried holding turbo down for 5+ seconds and tried the firmware update, but neither worked. Disappointing.

I've been on the market for a switch dock that will let me play smash on the go. I've been playing smash games since melee so no controller feels right other than the gamecube controller. This dock is great because it allows me to play with my gamecube controller while still using the switch screen and with no extra accessories.Pros:One big reason I went with the Brook Power Bay over the Panda Global switch dock was their brick guarantee. It says on their website that if they brick you switch, then they will offer to repair or pay for a new one (if they can't repair it). This definitely gave me some peace of mind and confidence in going with this product. Who knows how they customer service would be, or how difficult it would be to actually get them to honor this claim, but at least its there. As you all probably know, this dock is not an official Nintendo dock so there could be potential problems down the road, but from my experience I have played smash on this dock while it was charging for a couple hours and have yet to run into any problems.I don't notice any input lag when playing with this dock (then again I've been playing a lot of wifi during the pandemic). The gamecube ports feel solid and I had no issue plugging in my controller. The plastic it is made out of is cheap, but actually feels better than other reviews would have me believe. It's a nice compact size that you could easily fit in a small bag or even your back pocket (Not sure why anyone would want to do this). When the switch is mounted on the dock, it seems to sit well and there is a blue light to indicate if either the switch is mounted, or if the dock is plugged in.Cons:By far the worst thing about the version I got is the need to update the firmware. You have to go to their website and download their manual and firmware installer, both of which have pretty vague instructions. You also need a FEMALE usb C to MALE usb A converter. This is a pretty uncommon type of connection, but the only port on the device which can install the firmware is the usb C that plugs into the switch. I made a special point to buy one of these converters with this dock under the assumption that I would need to update the firmware. Granted you can plug this into your computer, the actual install process is pretty simple. I was able to do it in 5 minutes. Without this firmware update you cannot use the gamecube mode. By default this dock will act as though the gamecube controller is a pro controller, remapping certain buttons like the start->home R->Z etc. Normally you are supposed to be able to hold down the "Turbo" button for 5 seconds and it will change to GC mode but mine didn't until I installed the firmware. After I installed it though it worked fine. I've seen some complaints of having to change back to GC mode any time the switch comes undocked but since updating mine stays in GC mode all the time.Other than getting the controllers setup, it can be a little difficult to get the switch seated on the USB c. That and the viewing angle isn't great. I'm pretty tall so when I have this set up on a desk the screen points more to my chest than my head. You can add some extra angle by using the handle on the back as a stand, but it's not the most sturdy thing in the world. I'd like to see them have some sort of hinge that can rotate, allowing the switch to tilt. I haven't tried to usb's yet but from what I know you can plug in an ethernet adapter, or an extra GC adapter for more controller inputs.Overall this does everything I want it to. Setup was a bit of a pain in the ass and I wish there were more viewing angles but I can't complain too much.

I like the fact everything but when I press 5 seconds on power bay crimson turbo function, it doesn’t give my input start button instead it keep getting me home button for my GameCube controller.Edit. I got back with brook support, There’s a firmware for the crimson but you need a usb c female to usb a cable. Contact brook support.

Doesn’t work with joystick arcade
