I didn't like how it was spraying on, was pretty spotty. I put the parts I did in our powder coat ovens at work and it came out AWESOME.

First off gotta Brownells one of the best spray paints for firearms, airsoft and magfed fed paintball. I used this to paint my handguard for my First Strike T15 magfed paintball marker.I read some reviews about the nozzle clogging and spitting out blobs of paint. What worked for me was i shook this for about seriously 10 mins yea I timmed it lol. Also I heated the can up till it got warm by dipping it in warm water but be cautious not to put the can in hot water since it can explode. Also every 5 mins of spraying I would re shake the can as well as check the nozzle if I see paint starting to build up I would wipe it with a brush that I dipped in laquer it helped wipe the paint of the nozzle tip and not dry out causing blobs to spit out.Overall great paint and matches closely to Magpul FDE. Yes it is hard work to maintain and slows tue process down but i prefer to do things slow and steady than fast and silly.

👎0 stars. This product is garbage. Comes out inconsistent. Leaves a very textured pattern on the product. Sometimes sprays a foam spray of paint and comes out very bubbly. I thoroughly prepped my surface prior to applying. I shook the can vigorously for 10 min before applying. Applied at the rated 70°f - 90°f. The spray would come out as it should for one or two passes then come out in a thick spray and leave a rough texture of paint on the surface. I made sure I wasn't too far from the surface as the paint could possibly dry before hitting the surface. I watched Brownell's instruction video for applying on YouTube. I called Brownell's tech support line and spoke with Matt, their representative who was sure I wasn't shaking the can enough. I spent over an hour trying to remove the paint from the surface and thoroughly cleaned. I then shook the can until anybody using this product would have certainly agreed that the paint was definitely mixed (probably 35+ min of shaking). I tested the paint on a cardboard box with maybe a 10% improvement. I tried a 2nd time applying it to my surface with again a horrible result. I shouldn't have even tried a 2nd time. What a waste. This product is garbage and I would not recommend this to anyone. Now I'm contemplating buying another handguard because the one I tried this paint on looks like crap. 👎

So I have used this stuff on multiple rifles now. It is durable and strong if cured correctly. When I use it, I will change nozzles on the can after each coat. The nozzles can be bought generically or on Brownells website. The item being sprayed has to be completely clean as well. Brake cleaner works wonders but make sure to wash with dish soap and a tooth brush before hand and spray dry with an air compressor.Tips when using Alumahyde:Do no touch before curing. Absolutely do not touch with your hands. Make a plan to cure in an oven or naturally before handling at all. I usually transfer to an oven after letting dry around 30 minutes to an hour.Buy extra nozzles. Those complaining about it clogging up nozzles are most likely spraying in very cold conditions or not shaking the can enough before using. I have not had any issues and have bought over several years. If you want to touch up a spot, you can after curing the original coat. You can also sand a spot if there is an imperfection and then touch it up and recure. Just make sure to cure the original coat.Spray multiple coats: Start with a feather coat that barely covers the item. Then cover it a little bit more. Thirdly, finish with an even coat that gets all the nooks and crannies. It is a quality product for a spray can application. Just make sure to have extra nozzles.

I spent countless hours researching spray paint and options for my pain project. Look no further if you're looking to match magpul FDE. The shade is just slightly lighter in certain lighting situations, but the absolute best match possible on the market, especially for a spray paint. I used this to paint a fore grip and a few mags. This will harden on plastic nicely. I am absolutely happy with the results of this paint job and I'd recommend it to everyone who's looking for an inexpensive spray paint to match their gear to magpul's FDE color. You can find this in some gun stores however it's basically the same price and most gun stores around here don't have all the colors to choose from (you will not find this paint at citymill or home depot or art stores). This paint is a 100% better match in color than the Rust-Oleum or Krylon options.Things to know:-Make sure you get the right shade (Aluma-Hyde II Epoxy Magpul FDE) They awesomely make a specific magpul FDE now.-Make sure you prep your item for painting correctly for best results. Mainly just follow the instructions on the can.Prepping notes: Used a light sand paper on the surface of my items to paint, wiped them down with rubbing alcohol, blew off residual dust with compressed air can and hung them from string to evenly spray and dry. I did 3 coats of paint and let it dry for about 15-20min between coats. Finally I let them dry under a lamp for 3 days before handling.LOVE THIS PRODUCT AND RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!
