Been in radios for over 15 yrs and have used about everything out there. I was a big Wilson 5000 fan for years then used a Stryker 5k wilson clone b4 I tried these... FANTASTIC TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE! they talk extremely well and hear just as good. I recommend these to everyone now! You won't regret it especially at the price point.

I just installed this on a stainless bird perch on a Freightliner Cascadia. Install was simple, I did have to cut off about an inch of the whip. Dremel with diamond blade works very well.I used very good coax, coupled to a galaxy 959 radio.I tested it with a Yaesu FT 450D with the matching Atas 120 antenna in my vehicle. It performed very well, and after I go on a trip, I’ll update this review.

Out the box stock SWR reading was higher than advertised on my antenna mount with an 18 feet run of RG8X. I replaced the bottom antenna shaft with a shorter firestik K-1A Push-n-Twist quick disconnect and things got a bit better with a 1.5 on channel 1 1.9 on ch.20 and a 2.5 on ch.40. I then cut a little bit at a time and things got better and better until I saw ch. 1 start to get worse as ch. 40 got better so I stopped. Overall I took more than an inch off. After finishing with cutting I tried adjusting the antenna a second time by pushing back up to slightly extend the antenna height and tightening the hex screws and got worse readings every time, so I pushed the antenna back to bottoming out on the inside and for somehow got better SWR readings with a 1 on ch. 1, 1.1 on ch. 20 and 1.5 on ch. 40. Out of curiosity I then tried a different 1970s built meter made in Japan and got a 1.6, 1.7 and 2.1 so I have decided it is probably best to average the two sets of meter readings. so between the two last sets of readings I'm pulling at least a 1.3 on ch. 1, 1.5 on ch. 20 and a 1.8 on 40.If you have the tools to trim your coax run this may be easier than shortening the antenna. I had a dremmel.

Excellent antenna for the money, it receives and transmits extremely well. I think I might buy another one to keep as a spare before everybody else finds out how good these actually are and they are not available.

Smart Ariel. I’ve had one of these before but broke it on trees. My fault for mounting it so high on my lorry as I’m in single track lanes in uk a lot of the time. They are strong and from experience I know they take a good battering. This time I will mount them lower. When I brought my first browning Ariel it was a while ago and quite expensive for one. I’ve just got two at a cheaper price than one when I ordered my first browning Ariel. Very good Ariel and a brilliant service. Also arrived quite a few days before it meant to

I have 2 of these now. I like them. The swr are much easier to set.. and it doesn't hold swr like the Wilson antennas do. I can hear great with it and gets out better than my 102 steel whip did.. so yeah.. for the price.. I would buy another one... another thing.. if you are looking to put it on a log truck.. like I drive.. better get a spring... I tore one off the other day lol.. put my back up on with a spring and it's doing fine now.. just have to watch for low hanging limbs.. the flat coils can grab it

I have been a cb'er for a long long time and this is the best and easiest to tune CB antenna I have ever used. I run it on the back of the cab of a KW and it hears and talks better than any other antenna I have used. I have bought 3 of these total, 1 for me and 2 for other friends. The SWR was so easy to set.... All I had to do was slide the stinger all the way down and tighten it and I have an SWR or 1.5 or lower across the band which is good enough for me, No cutting required on my setup. If you run it on the back of the KW on the airline bar it will stick out above faring a couple inches and you will have to lean it back slightly as well... Fantastic antenna.I am not a paid or compensated in any way for my comment or related to the the Browning antenna people in any way.
