I needed to replace a broken in-floor outlet. While this was identical to my old outlet, it was a fraction of an inch larger in diameter. Fortunately, my floor is wood ( and not concrete ) so I was able to use a rasp to enlarge the hole. Other than that, a nice quality product.

I have 3 complaints about this floor box.The first is that there is a ground contact in the bottom of the box (I assume for water spill safety). However, the kit doesn't come with a wire to bridge the distance and the grounding screws are just a little smaller than the standard, so you can't just take one out of a bag with a pre-measured ground. The second is that there are NO contact wires like there are in other kits. So, if you're replacing a floor box, know that you'll need to make your own if you didn't leave enough slack. The third complaint is that the brass of the box goes down below the floor, but the listed size hole you need is for the grey box. Thus, you will spend 20 minutes on your knees with a micro-sander fixing the issue. Also, the screws to hold the socket in the box are so small and recessed that you will need a specialty tool to get them screwed in OR spend another 5 minutes with a flat head doing 1/2 turns to get it down. This is more of a tooling issue, but it's still a design flaw.

This was the least expensive floor box I could find and it worked out well. The shaft is plastic while the cover is brass. It was a little smaller than the hole I had so make sure you take measurements before you order it.

These are cute and work well. Only thing to note, the screws that come with are made of a very cheap quality alloy. Two of mine broke while driving. Buy your own solid brass screws and pitch the ones that come with the item

Several other versions of these require you to cut two holes, one slightly larger that doesn't go all the way through in order to create a 'lip' for the box to mount on. I'm sure a pro could do that but I wasn't sure I wouldn't screw it up so I got this one to put an outlet under our sofa because it just uses 1 hole and the outer edge of the box sits on the floor. That means it sticks up about 1/4" from the surface of the floor, if you want totally flush this isn't the one for you.The outlet is easy to wire and there is a heavy metal cover for the top if it's not in use. There is also a plastic cap that goes on the bottom with punch-outs so you can properly strain relief whatever sort of wire you're install (AC or rj45 or whatever). I realized I didn't have a picture of the bottom cap installed, but it's there.. Don't want to go into the basement and remove the insulation again to take a new photo.... sorry amazon readers, I'm not that dedicated. :)

Aesthetically, I could be happier with this purchase. The brass looks great and the outlet is sturdy and very well made. With that said, I wish I took the advice of the other reviews: 1) you will likely want to saw off a few inches from the excessively long tube, and 2) do not use the brass-colored screws that come with the outlet - they are very poor quality. (I had one sheer in half, even though I had already drilled a pilot hole, which caused me to put a significant scratch in my hardwood floors.)
