Buffalo’s WS5020 Windows Server IoT TeraStations are network-attached storage (NAS) devices purpose-built as efficient data storage and backup solutions for small businesses.
The WS5020 runs Windows Server IoT 2019 for Storage Standard Edition, a binary equivalent of the Windows Server 2019 operating system that is made specially for NAS devices and offers full Windows Server 2019 functionality. The WS5020 acts as a file server built with Windows Server 2019, leveraging the Windows Server operating system to optimize file server functions, centralize and organize stores, and protect stored data, all through the same familiar Windows Server-based interface.
The WS5020 NAS hardware is made in Japan and is TAA compliant. Built with business-class components to provide stable 24/7 operation, WS5020 includes 8GB ECC memory to stabilize performance as well as native 10GbE to eliminate network bottlenecks and shorten data backup times. As with our other TeraStation products, the WS5020 comes with hard drives included and 24/7, US-based support.

Item shipped featured Server 2016. I like the product in theory, but was expecting Server 2019. The server OS is not upgradeable. Might have been just an error with my order.

Solid Hardware, plug and play (with basic windows knowledge) -- however, the Buffalo software installed can have issues.I've had an inability to update the "firmware" as directed by support, I've had a fake-failure of all drives in the array after a windows update, but I for the most part feel my data is safe.The fake-failure and alarm were able to be fixed with a registry change, which I do believe is now searchable in all languages on the buffalo site.Machine seems to have a fanless PSU with a significant whine in my unit when powered off but plugged in.Buffalo installed software seems to exhibit high fan speed issues when USB HDD is plugged in.
