About Taps

Straight flute design, made of 6542 high speed steel. It is used to process threads of various through holes or shallow blind holes. Can process copper, brass, A3 steel, aluminum, cast iron and other materials.

Generally used in conjunction with tapping machines, integrated bench drills, CNC lathes, machining centers, etc. Manual processing is also possible. When operating, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, the higher the hardness of the processed product, the slower the speed.

Recommended feed rate:

Hard steel: 5-10m/min, cast iron: 8-10m/min, ordinary steel: 6-15m/min.

About Dies

Made of alloy tool steel, hardness and wear resistance. Used to repair external threads. When in use, the conical locking hole of the die is aligned with the screw of the wrench and tightened. The conical keyhole has a strong locking force and is not easy to loosen.

Suggest:

Appropriate lubricating oil should be added to the die-cutting edge when cutting, It is to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate chip discharge from the chip hole.

Tips

  • Please be sure to take protective measures when working, you need to wear goggles and protective gloves.
  • Before tapping confirm whether the diameter of the round hole is appropriate. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for the complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
  • When tapping, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, it is necessary to add water or coolant to cool down to prevent excessive temperature and reduce tap loss.

I bought this to repair a 3/4 x16 lefthand thread bolt that I need. Have tryed to make a bolt 6 times & every one has started right ( so I thought, I have done this many times & know how to due this with many years experence) but when you back it off it is not right it creates lop sided threads good on one side & bad on the other. You thread it into its hole it threads in as if it is bent, but it is not bent it is caused by the lopsided threads I only need this to make 1 bolt & as of my last try I am questioning what is happening As for the tap it worked fine to clean up bad threads But I do not know what it would do in making its threads in clean metal Update I tried this again on 8 bolts & it is the same story will not track right good threads on one side & minimal on the other, I would not recommend this or its handle , as a matter of fact I would like to return this as it is only going to be a paper weight around here.
