Wash the butter cup after the butter finished with hot water and soap. Replace water every week with hot water, and let it down before putting the butter cup in.

This is an awesome butter bell! It is solid marble and nice looking. It arrived safely packaged and works just as I hoped! The butter is always nice and spreadable here now! I change the water every 2-3 days and I put 1/3cup of water in. It fits one of the short sticks of butter in the bell part. A traditional long stick or a double wide would be too much. I am very pleased with this purchase!

Since I just baked my first sourdough loaves this week, I decided I should have a proper dish for soft, spreadable butter. I’ve had this in my wishlist for a while but was having a hard time rationalizing spending the money on a butter dish but it really is so worth it! It’s really high quality polished marble. You never really know what you’re going to get when you order natural stone products on the internet because there can be a lot of variation but this butter bell looks gorgeous on my quartzite countertops. It really coordinates perfectly! I have just been pulling the hard, cold sticks of butter out of the fridge door and rubbing them on my bread which is messy and less than ideal. Now I will have soft butter for my fresh sourdough all the time!

It works as intended and looks good on the counter. It's a quality piece at a reasonable price. I would buy it again. The only downside was the shipping delay, which took about two weeks after the order was placed.
