I wish this was a bit less fragile in the ring, but it is fine.

I am a naturalist and I can say that having a trusty net to catch things whenever you do a BioBlitz is a must. I have used many nets in my six years of being a naturalist volunteer for a few folks. I have to say that some I have used like the ones that don't telescope are hard to handle. I like this one for you can easily store it in a back pack. Light weight and easy to manage. I use them for dragonfly study and also a whole wide range of insect activities. Products like these are essential. Easy to fold out and put away for storage. I also love the quality. Sometimes it will slack but that is because I do a lot of sweep netting in prairies and things looking for insects but one little twist and you are good to go. No complaints here.

This net works great for about 1 season of catching butterflies/bugs. This is maybe the 4th one I have purchased. You can pretty much expect the 'telescoping/locking' handle to stop working after a summer of use. In the past, I have made due by drilling a hole and using a screw & nut to keep it extended.

The holes in the netting are too large for catching Monarchs. Their legs often get caught in the netting and are difficult to free without harming them. I have cut the old netting off and will replace it with a much finer fabric.

Love this net overall! I love the fact that it is collapsible but because it is the sturdiness of it suffers a bit, as well as the net its self. It's good quality but I'm afraid eventually I'll rip a hole in it when I get caught on thorny bushes. So far no damages done, it even worked in the water.

I use this mainly for catching insects such as wasps. It is good for catching them out of the air when they are near the ceiling. Then the wasps can be gently released to the outside. It could also work for hummingbirds trapped in the garage and for chipmunks brought inside by a cat (although I find a paper bag is perhaps better for chipmunks).

As expected. No issues but would have liked the handle to be longer.

This is an excellent net. We got it to help with catching small birds in our aviary. It has a nice short arm to it which allows us to extend it out or keep it short. It does have a long net associated with it so if your swinging it in the open not a big deal but it will get caught on a stick. Small holes in the net allows us to catch the animals safely and get them moved!
