A bit awkward to use. Not as straight forward as you would think.

I tried using this on my work pants, which are thick, for the top butt on. It failed miserably. Perhaps it works on thin fabric shirts, etc. If you're thinking about buying this and using it on heavy fabric, think twice.

It took two and a half sets of fasteners to secure a single four hole buttonThe fasteners kept jamming inside of the product and securing the fasteners into it was also difficult due to how flimsy they were.Honestly would have been easier and faster to just sew the button on with how long it took and how frequently it jammed. The needles that thread the fastener in are also pretty thick and would likely leave a hole in a thinner or more delicate fabricDefinitely pricey for something that does not work very well as well as damaged my shirt

Bought this thing years ago and the minute that I unpacked it to use it and I follow the instructions to the letter -it did nothing.I had a button pop off my pants, went to go to fix it, and got this thing out .Well, it sure as heck didn’t work . Wound up poking my fingers with those needles . You have to use a thimble.- which is odd because it’s advertised as super simple - on-the -go kind of thing but yea , you are out on the road on a trip and uh oh “ where did I put my thimble ?” It is touted as this real simple thing - just snap in and fix your pants right away or shirt or whatever but no this thing doesn’t work. I think the previous generation worked OK but this thing is GARRRRR BAGE …The thing doesn’t properly put the plastic fastener through the holes . I literally could’ve fixed my pants faster with a needle and thread rather than this piece of garbage. I COULD HAVE , in the amount of time wasted on this thing, dug up my sewing kit or went to the drug store and got a kit faster than the amount of time wasted on this thing. This thing is now bits of plastic that are broken from being smashed by being thrown violently against the garage floor by me.

I spend more time trying to load the strips and get them to install, than i would simply sewing a button on. There is so much waste with mi- installed ties that it is very frustrating. I dont recommend this model of buttoneer. The ties are tiny and ackward.

I feel in love with the Buttoneer 25 years ago when my daughter's were taking dance class as children. I used this to attach bows and other items to costumes, repair tips and tears when they were on stage, etc. It works for just about everything. I was unable to find the tacks for my old one, so I was unable to use it for years and I missed it more than anything. I was so happy to see this new unit online again! I currently decorate ballet tutus and this little baby once again did not disappoint!! Every item attached to the tutu has to be tacked on, but still removable so the underskirt can be reused for different performances and these went on smoothly and easily, and are holding the appliques securely. This little gem is a true time saver!!

I had there old model for awhile and works great till the plastic tabs ran out and had to search for a new one. I will say I tried one other button repair gun with one needle insert but doesn't work till I purchased this one. Just used this item today and at first was curious on loading the plastic tabs to the item, then I see that you have to push in till you feel it lock , then it's ready to use. I was used to just push down with my fingers the cuff of the shirt with the button that came off and hold it down while pressing the button gun but I remembered seeing the ad for this item showing that you can use the protective cap as a base instead of using your fingers to hold the collar. Great item for a quick fix!

TLDR: No fasteners included; fasteners are weak; save your money, just use needle and thread.First off the buttoneer did not come with any fasteners, despite being mentioned in the packaging on the product photos, so be prepared to purchase those separately, or better yet, don't purchase this piece of garbage at all.The fasteners only seem to work with very thin buttons, as they were not able to reach through the holes in the buttons I tried the product with. The mechanism of the fasteners seems to be similar to the nylon tags you see on clothes to attach labels/tags, so are likely to break with minimal force, so definitely not suitable as a button fastener (how else do you think the button came off in the first place).Save your money, don't buy this garbage. get a simple needle and thread, it'll work a lot better than this piece of garbage.

I used to use the old Buttoneer with great success. Then, the fasteners themselves stopped being of high quality. I ordered refills from several vendors and they were all brittle and would not hold like the old fasteners. On the new model, the QUALITY of the actual fasteners themselves is back. They work and hold just fine. The other improvements are well thought out and helpful. The pistol grip design makes it easier to use. The onboard storage for the fasteners is a nice touch. Finally, the cap that covers the needles also provides a handy surface to push against when using a fastener. Previously, I used my fingers and almost got stuck a couple of times. The functionality is back and a good deal! The new fasters, however, do not work with the old Buttoneer. So, you do have to buy the new one to use the quality fasteners.
