My dog can flip the latch on gate, push gate open and wander neighborhood. This pin fits into the hole in latch, preventing it from being flipped. However, it is easy for the human to slip the clip off, remove the pin from the hole and exit. i tied a piece of string between the pin and fence so item does not become lost while gate open. I am very happy with this item.
