This is a good quality RS232 extension cable. Works well with the EFNote 7xx control module, which connects to the stage box via an RS232 cable. Needed an extension cable because of where we placed the stage box on the church stage. The cable jacket material is fairly good and appears to be a semi-flexible rubber material. This will be a fixed installation, so flexibility is not a concern.

THIS CABLE IS NOT A NULL MODEM CABLE. It is just a straight through normal extension cable. Please update the title to reflect this.

This a good quality cable with all 9 pins AND shield ground connected as straight through. I use a lot of older computer equip and worked in the tech field back to the 1980's, so dealt a lot with RS-232, and Commodore 9 pin and old style modem stuff. Many DB9 cables have "NUll Modem" in their description but are not. Null Modem is a different cable, different pin out, and is usually F-F, not M-F. You'd need and adapter to make this into a null modem cable. If you need a DB9 Extension or to cut and use a custom connection this is a great choice. The cable (including connectors) is actually 10 feet.

I needed to extend a serial connection down a workbench, and this does exactly what I need.

I needed to connect a serial port (raspberry pi to db9 serial adapter) to my laptop for tests. Most serial ports I have are female db9. The serial adapter I have is male. Grr.Got this cable, connected between the laptop and the pi adapter, worked perfectly. The cable is long enough to move around and is pliable so it's not a stiff rod. I ran at high speeds down to 9600, worked just fine.Worth getting.

The description mentions a null modem, but that is a type of crossover cable. This is a straight through cable. I use it to connect my USB serial adapter to my old UPS which has a serial port. It works fine. I can't speak to speeds or anything, but if you are using serial, you probably don't need that much speed anyway. I've made my own cables in the past, but it is actually more expensive than just buying one like this. Unless you need a custom pinout or are not sure if the cable you want is the correct pinout, it is easiest to just buy one like this. But again, this is not a null modem or crossover cable.

Computer has male RS232 connector, device I needed to connect has female RS232 connector.Since this is pass-through (pin to pin), this worked perfectly for my requirements. And ten feet of cable was more than enough!
