I know that these are for cake and icing but i used them with joint compound on canvases to make art and they worked perfectly!

I always make my boys birthday cakes, and was looking for something to help create the designs they want. Obviously, I wasn't looking to spend a fortune on professional decorating supplies, as they will be used solely for birthday cakes, and other fun baking projects for the family.These are exactly what I was looking for - sturdy, nice sized, can be used for smoothing homemade frosting, or making simple designs, well packaged items for a great price. They get the job done, and do a beautiful job. We've even used them to create designs on Christmas cookies. The flat edged tools are also great to use a scrapers to get frosting and bread/cookie dough out of the pan, or get those last stubborn bits off the counter/baking mat after rolling dough out.I've only hand washed them, but they wash beautifully so far - even when using dark or bright colored frostings.Overall, I am very pleased with this product. They are perfect for home baking/decorating, and for letting the kids make frosting designs as well.
