There is a pan-tilt at the top that can rotate 180 degrees. At the top of the pan-tilt, there is a 1/4” screw, which can be directly used to install various camping lantern. You can also attach the complimentary hook to hang camping lantern. The maximum load-bearing capacity is up to 4.4 pounds. Each of the three support feet at the bottom has a ground stake hole to prevent the tripod from being blown over by the wind or knocked down. Made of aluminum alloy, it only weighs about 17.6 ounces, making it lightweight and sturdy.

This portable light stand is made very well and I really like the design. I have a lot of camping gear so I'm looking for ways to minimize my cargo load. The small size of this helps when packing for a trip. It's pretty stable.

When I ordered this extendable light stand tripod, I had high expectations for its versatility. But after unboxing it, I was not impressed with the design. Initially from the description, I assumed it would be more robustly constructed. But the combination of aluminum and plastic components meant the mass of the extended stand is low and can easily be toppled over. Be it by wind, or center of gravity. I would NOT use it without the provided stakes. The tubes extend via friction fit only. There is not locking mechanism to keep them in the desired length. So, the useful 1/4-20" threaded head can't support any heavy loads. YMMV with the types of light sources you have in mind. It can safely support small action cams and a iPhone, but no interchangeable lens DSLR or mirrorless camera. As a photographer, I hoped it can serve multiple roles. But it is not suited for photographers to substitute it for a real tripod.Only for hanging lightweight LED lighs, no gas fired lanterns, or the like. It's too niche for much more.

This is one of those things that I didn't realize how much I needed until after I got it. I prefer overhead light whenever possible and this stand helps you achieve that when camping. I know it can also be a camera tripod, but for my purposes and review it's a light stand. It is very well made with all aluminum construction and is also therefore quite lightweight. It is quick and easy to deploy, set your preferred height, and aim your lights. It had no problem holding two led camp lanterns/lights during my testing, but does come with stakes to hold it down just in case they are needed. You can hang your lights by either attaching one that has threads to the top pivot mount with the 1/4-20 camera screw. Or you can attach one or both of the hanging hooks and hang them from there. The hooks are my only concern with this item. The hooks themselves are plenty strong enough, but the way they screw together and attach to the stand by only the little 1/4-20 camera screw on the pivot plate is a little worrisome. It just seems like an awfully flimsy and weak design. I mean they did hold two of my lights at once, but I'm still not fond of the design. I'm a pretty good DIYer and fabricator so I believe I'm going to do some modifying and upgradeafications and make a sturdier set of hook mounts for it. Other than that I really like it overall. It is a great light holder for camping and fishing. It allows you to get your lights up over your head when sitting in a chair, which I really like. I am glad I decided to try it out and I would recommend it.

In a world of cars, this tripod would be a sand buggy - it's compact, it's lightweight, it's durable but it is also not super stable and does not carry a lot of weight. It extends up to a height of 63", supported only by the friction of the column. The most it can safely carry, IMO, is about 1/2 lb. This is suitable for a phone or a point-and-shoot camera. This tripod is definitely not for DSLRs, telescopes or anything with heavy optics. It comes with a very handy phone bracket that can be secured either horizontally or vertically and is large enough to support most phones. Note: the provided phone bracket is too small for tablets, iPads or even Samsung Notes. The tripod is not super stable, as other reviewers have already noted, but is good enough IMO in field condition on a relatively flat ground. This tripod does come with very robust ground stakes (and holes in its legs) to secure it in a more inclined terrain. However, its main selling point is its relatively small size and light weight. If you want something super stable, there are much larger and more robust tripods out there but they also weigh a lot more. On-the-go such as on a backpacking or even camping trip where you may want to take pictures of yourself or in the low light condition (ie long-ish exposure) this tripod works very well. However, you do need to make sure to set a 5-10s delay on the timer, especially in low-light conditions, since the tripod does move gently after you touch it.I also like that it can be used as a monopod in situations where you may want a little more stabilization for the camera (again, low-light conditions). At 1 5/8" diameter and just over a 1lb weight, it's a little too heavy and bulky to be used as a pure monopod, but it's very nice to have that option, where you may not want a full tripod setup. This tripod does come with a few accesses: the aforementioned ground stakes, the hanger hooks, ostensibly for the lights?, the phone clip and the bags to carry it all in. The hooks and the stakes weigh over 1/2lb, so I personally plan on not using them and save myself a bit of weight. All in all, this is a great tool for the on-the-go if you need a highly portable camera or a light tripod.

This stand is very unstable on flat hard floor. Let's say that you have car trouble at night on a paved road or on the paved shoulder of the highway. You need light and you have this great flashlight but you need to elevate it on a stand and you pull out and open your telescoping stand and place your flashlight on it. It wobbles A LOT when you set it up. so much that a mild breeze would knock it over. The three prong base is borderline workable but the telescoping part is too loose and it wobbles. IF you are using it for camping and the ground is soft enough to attach the stakes it works a lot better but it will still wobble even though it should not fall. So be aware of what your plans are for it before you purchase it. The light hangers just add to the instability due to uneven weight distribution. The storage bags are a good touch but are of poor quality and the stakes barely fit in them, they stick out at the purse string closure.
